Bank of America raises dividend 14% as Buffett's Berkshire collects $619M annually

Bank of America's board approved a 14% dividend increase in July, raising the quarterly payout to $0.32 per share from $0.28. The new forward annual dividend stands at $1.28 per share. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, which holds 483,394,015 shares of Bank of America, is on pace to collect roughly $619 million annually from BAC dividends alone. Berkshire has owned the bank stock for more than a decade, though it quietly trimmed its position this summer. The payout ratio sits at roughly 28% of earnings, leaving room for further increases. Bank of America has paid a dividend every year since 1991, with a 10-year dividend growth rate of approximately 15.6% annualised. The dividend hike accompanied a strong second quarter, with net income of $9.1 billion, up 27% year-over-year.

Bank of America warns HP stock faces 40% downside despite PC market share recovery

Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan maintained an Underperform rating on HP Inc. with an $18 price target, implying roughly 40% downside from the current share price. HP reports fiscal third-quarter earnings on 26 August. The bank expects HP's Personal Systems revenue to rise about 8% year over year in the quarter, helped by pricing and market-share recovery. Preliminary data showed HP regaining worldwide PC share in the second calendar quarter after losing ground earlier. However, BofA warns that margin pressure could intensify. The bank forecasts Personal Systems operating margin falling to 4.3% in fiscal Q3 and 3.9% in Q4. Higher memory costs and pricing that lags rising component costs are expected to weigh on profitability before conditions improve in fiscal 2027.

BofA maintains buy rating on Capital One despite slowing card growth

Bank of America maintained its Buy rating on Capital One Financial with a $253 price target, representing 11.3% upside potential. The rating comes as Capital One integrates its Discover acquisition, completed in May 2025. Capital One's domestic credit card loans totalled $258.9 billion in July, growing 1.92% year-over-year, down from 2.58% growth in June. BofA analyst Mihir Bhatia expects loan growth to remain subdued until integration headwinds clear. Despite slower card growth, credit quality improved. The domestic card net charge-off rate fell 26 basis points to 4.12%, outperforming historical averages. Auto loans showed stronger momentum, growing 12.05% annually to reach $90.5 billion. BofA cited expected expense synergies, capital-return potential, and improving credit trends as reasons for its positive outlook, despite risks from economic uncertainty and regulatory concerns.

Bank of America backs Medtronic as cardiac ablation unit posts 78% growth

Bank of America has maintained a Buy rating on Medtronic with a $95 price target, citing expectations for strong fiscal first-quarter results when the medical-device maker reports on 1 September. The company finished fiscal 2026 with $9.8 billion in fourth-quarter revenue, up 6.6% organically. Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division posted 78% global revenue growth and 124% growth in the US, gaining eight percentage points of market share. Bank of America analyst Travis Steed expects similar growth rates to continue, potentially pushing results toward the upper end of management's 6% to 6.5% organic revenue growth guidance. However, concerns remain about sustaining momentum. Bank of America estimates CAS currently adds about three percentage points to total growth, making an eventual slowdown significant.
