About the job

Requirements
  • The candidate must have 2 to 4 years of professional experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, including exposure to point list development, control system drawings, and field instrumentation.
  • The candidate must have working familiarity with Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix hardware.
  • The candidate must have hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA or a comparable platform, including tag configuration, screen navigation, and basic troubleshooting.

  • The candidate must be comfortable working in active manufacturing and construction environments, including field walks, panel inspections, and instrument verification alongside technicians and trades.
  • The candidate must be able to apply established engineering standards independently and escalate technical ambiguity to more experienced engineers early and clearly.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Develop point lists, instrument schedules, I/O assignments, and control system drawings for modular data center systems under the direction of senior instrumentation and controls engineers.
  • Execute and document factory acceptance testing protocols on control panels and integrated modules, including point-to-point verification, loop checks, and calibration confirmation prior to shipment.
  • Partner with manufacturing on the factory floor to resolve control panel build issues, wiring discrepancies, and instrument installation questions as modules move through production.
  • Contribute to repeatable design packages, drawing templates, and test procedures that allow the modular platform to scale across successive builds without rework.
  • Support technical coordination with control panel fabricators, systems integrators, and instrument suppliers on submittals, specification compliance, and open technical items.
  • Conduct field walks, equipment inspections, and basic calibration verification at manufacturing and deployment sites to confirm as-built accuracy and commissioning readiness.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings, test records, and instrument documentation for downstream construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior work on data center mechanical or electrical control systems, or in another high-availability industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting a productized or prefabricated equipment platform where design repeatability and factory verification drive schedule.
  • Practical familiarity with Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC UA in a multi-vendor integration context.
  • Relevant credentials such as network certifications, Rockwell certifications, or Inductive Automation certifications.
  • Understanding of industrial network segmentation and operational technology security practices as applied to control system deployments.
  • A genuine interest in energy and AI infrastructure and in the engineering rigor required to build it at speed.

About the company

Crusoe builds and runs data centers for artificial intelligence, placing them near cheap or otherwise wasted energy and handling everything from the power supply to the cloud software. It developed the flagship campus in Abilene, Texas, for Stargate, the AI infrastructure project backed by OpenAI and Oracle. AI companies rent its GPU servers on demand or under longer contracts through Crusoe Cloud to train and run their models, while larger customers lease entire campuses that Crusoe develops and operates for them. The company was founded in 2018, when it began running computers at oil fields on natural gas that would otherwise have been burned off, and it is based in Denver.

What believers are saying

  • Room to grow: Crusoe listed 358 open roles in October 2026, from cloud engineering to factory work.
  • Equity has a path to cash: Crusoe was meeting IPO banks, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, in August 2026.
  • Steady work ahead: Crusoe reported over $140 billion in signed customer contracts in September 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Projects aren't safe until built: Google asked Crusoe to leave a 1.8-gigawatt Wyoming campus, then took over in July 2026.
  • The hard part is ahead: only 1 of the 6-plus gigawatts Crusoe had signed was running in September 2026.
  • Less upside for new hires: Crusoe's valuation hit $30.9 billion in September 2026, triple its October 2025 level.

What makes Crusoe unique

  • It makes its own electrical gear instead of waiting on suppliers: two Tulsa factories have built over 2,500 switchboards.
  • Its own MemoryAlloy software lets GPUs share memory, so AI answers start up to 9.9 times faster in Crusoe's tests.
  • Its power-ready land is in demand: Microsoft leased 900 megawatts at Abilene in March 2026 after OpenAI and Oracle passed.

Neoclouds explained: GPU providers behind the AI boom face a $3.5T impairment risk

Neoclouds, specialist providers that rent out GPU capacity for AI training and inference, have gone from unknown startups to listed companies with contracts worth billions of dollars. CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN lead the listed group; Lambda, Crusoe and Fluidstack remain private. Their shares fell hard in October 2026. CoreWeave dropped 29%, leaving it valued at about $34 billion against a 2025 peak of about $90 billion; Nebius fell 27% and IREN 32%. CoreWeave's unsecured debt yielded about 15%. On October 14, 2026, Gartner predicted that more than 80% of neocloud providers will stop operating independently by 2030. It also warned that more than $3.5 trillion of AI infrastructure spending could face impairment. Demand remains strong. CoreWeave co-founder Brannin McBee said nearly all of its 2027 capacity is sold.

Crusoe backs NVIDIA DSX POD with Spark modular AI platform, 352,000 sq ft factory

Crusoe said its Crusoe Spark modular AI data centre platform will support NVIDIA's new DSX POD reference design, a blueprint for modular infrastructure built on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Platform. The company announced the move in Denver on October 21, 2026. Crusoe has built modular data centres since 2020. It will mass produce Spark units at its 352,000-square-foot factory in Brighton, Colorado, and it unveiled Crusoe Spark Liquid, its sixth-generation unit designed for dense systems such as Vera Rubin NVL72. Crusoe says it can deliver AI capacity in as little as three months. Customers can use Vera Rubin capacity through Crusoe Cloud, deploy dedicated units via Crusoe Edge Zones, or add modular capacity to existing sites. "Modular isn't a new strategy or pivot for us," said Bryan Schramm, head of Spark.

Thinking Machines Lab signs $65M deal with Crusoe for AI inference infrastructure

Crusoe, a vertically integrated AI infrastructure provider, has signed a $65 million annual agreement with Thinking Machines Lab to power inference for the lab's open models on Crusoe Cloud. Through Crusoe Managed Inference, Thinking Machines Lab will serve production workloads including its Inkling models, GLM 5.2 and 5.3, on NVIDIA HGX B200 systems connected with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. The service enables Thinking Machines Lab to scale without managing its own inference stack. The companies plan to expand into batch inference for large-scale synthetic data generation. Thinking Machines Lab joins other clients that have taken Crusoe Managed Inference past $100 million in contracted annual recurring revenue less than a year from launch.

Crusoe signs multiyear Perplexity cloud deal for Nvidia AI chips

Crusoe has signed a multiyear cloud agreement to supply Perplexity with Nvidia AI chips for model training and inference, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. The deal's financial terms and capacity were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Crusoe will manage the technology throughout its operating life. More than 1,800 Crusoe employees will receive access to Perplexity's Enterprise Max product, which provides AI-powered search tools. The contract adds to Crusoe's growing cloud business, which recently secured a five-year agreement with Jane Street worth roughly $13 billion. In June, Crusoe reported 4.9 GW of contracted AI infrastructure capacity across its data centre projects and cloud platform, with a development pipeline exceeding 40 GW. Crusoe opened a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Monday.
