Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience officiating youth or intramural sports; multi-sport officiating is preferred.
  • Must be properly trained and certified to officiate in the applicable sports; training documentation and certifications must be submitted before each season.
  • Ability to interpret and apply sports rules, resolve disputes calmly, and maintain control during heated or tense situations.
Responsibilities
  • Officiate youth sports games for ages 5–18, including baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, kickball, and flag football.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before game time in proper uniform with required officiating equipment, including a whistle, scorebook, and ball counter.
  • Conduct pre-game meetings with teams and ensure equipment and field safety standards are met.
  • Monitor player conduct and enforce game rules and Joint Base San Antonio Youth Sports By-Laws without deviation.
  • Report injuries, misconduct, ejections, or protest incidents by the next duty day.
Desired Qualifications
  • Multi-sport officiating experience.
  • Basketball: NCAA or National Federation of State High School Associations rules certification.
  • Soccer: FIFA/International Football Association Board rules knowledge.
  • Softball/Baseball: Amateur Softball Association, Little League, or United States Specialty Sports Association certification.
  • Volleyball: United States Volleyball Association or National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association rules familiarity.
  • Flag Football and Kickball: National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association rulebook proficiency.
