Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing is required.
- At least two years of work experience as a registered nurse in an operating-room-designated area of practice is required.
- Attendance in the Charge Nurse Workshop and successful completion of the MUHA Charge Nurse Competency-Based Orientation are required within six months of hire.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Some positions require Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift.
- Coordinate unit activities and direct, organize, and assign work to nursing staff.
- Assess, monitor, and educate nursing staff on patient care.
- Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
- Identify expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plans.
