Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • At least two years of work experience as a registered nurse in an operating-room-designated area of practice is required.
  • Attendance in the Charge Nurse Workshop and successful completion of the MUHA Charge Nurse Competency-Based Orientation are required within six months of hire.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Some positions require Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift.
  • Coordinate unit activities and direct, organize, and assign work to nursing staff.
  • Assess, monitor, and educate nursing staff on patient care.
  • Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Identify expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plans.
