London voters elect a mayor, ward councillors and school board trustees on Monday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and unlike during advance voting they must vote at the location assigned to them on their voter notification card. The City of London's voter information page says you cannot choose another voting location on voting day. Voters can look up their ward and polling place with the city's online "Am I on the List/Where to Vote?" tool. Ward boundaries have changed for the 2026 election, so some residents will be voting in a different ward than in 2022, the city says. Checking the ward map before Monday will show which council race appears on your ballot. The deadline to update the voters' list online has passed, but eligible voters can still add their names in person at their voting location on Monday. To vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18, and live in London or own or rent property there, or be the spouse of an owner or tenant. Voters must show ID with their name and address and may need two pieces to cover both. Accepted documents include an Ontario driver's licence, Ontario photo health card or Ontario Photo Card, as well as a utility bill, bank statement, lease, property tax assessment or a post-secondary residence document, according to the city's list. Twelve candidates are on the ballot for mayor, including Mayor Josh Morgan, according to the city's certified list of candidates. CBC London's election guide profiles candidates ward by ward, including contested races such as Ward 10, where four challengers are trying to unseat a longtime councillor. Several local issues have shaped the campaign. The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported this month that opioid-related ER visits have already passed last year's total, months after the city's supervised consumption site closed. On the economic side, Hitachi Energy announced plans to build a $479-million pressboard plant in London. Results will be posted after polls close at 8 p.m. Monday. Hitachi Energy teams up with Ansaldo to develop integrated power solutions for data center sector and grid.

Hitachi Energy teams up with Ansaldo to develop integrated power solutions for data center sector and grid. Japanese giant inks MoU with Italian energy firm October 21, 2026 Hitachi Energy has partnered with Italian energy firm Ansaldo Energia to develop integrated power solutions capable of serving both 60Hz and 50Hz markets, including deployment in data centers. The partners inked a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that seeks to utilize the companies' capabilities in power generation and power grid infrastructure, combining Ansaldo Energia's gas-turbine and generator technologies with Hitachi Energy's leadership in full grid system integration. "Power demand is growing at a pace we have not seen for decades as the world enters the electricity era," said Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy. "As power demand continues to outpace available infrastructure, the need for scalable, rapidly deployable power solutions has become increasingly urgent. By combining our complementary strengths with Ansaldo Energia, we help customers unlock new capacity, accelerate time to power, and build resilient energy systems that support economic growth and digital innovation." According to the companies, the partners intend to develop an end-to-end solution for various applications. This will integrate power generation with the full power transmission system to the point of consumption, including energy hubs, data centers, and other large-scale electricity consumers. Hitachi also said the partnership will support the autonomous, integrated operation of data centers through One Hitachi by combining its end-to-end power solutions with HMAX Data Center. Hitachi's HMAX solution is a domain-specific solution suite that integrates monitoring and correlation analysis across multi-vendor power, IT, and cooling infrastructure. "Meeting the world's growing demand for electricity requires closer collaboration across the entire energy value chain," said Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia. "By combining Ansaldo Energia's power generation technologies with Hitachi Energy's expertise in grid infrastructure, we will provide integrated solutions that accelerate deployment and deliver the scale, flexibility and reliability required by the next generation of industrial, digital and energy infrastructure." Hitachi Energy has announced several large-scale investments in grid infrastructure to support surging data center capacity. Last September, the company announced a $1 billion investment to scale up its grid infrastructure manufacturing footprint in the US, with nearly half earmarked for the construction of a new power transformer manufacturing facility in South Boston, Virginia Before this, in June of last year, the firm partnered with regional transmission operator Southwest Power Pool to develop an Nvidia-powered artificial intelligence solution that reduces the duration of interconnection impact studies. Hitachi Energy is the energy manufacturing arm of Japanese multinational conglomerate Hitachi. The company's products include high-voltage equipment, transformers, and services for the renewable energy sector. Ansaldo Energia is based in Genoa, Italy, and develops gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators for a range of industrial applications. More in grid level.
