Position Summary:
The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care within the inpatient unit, specialty clinic, and day hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
Position Highlights:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing direct patient care to children under the care of the inpatient and outpatient oncology service. Services will be performed in the Inpatient and/or Outpatient Oncology unit with the potential to also provide support in the Day Hospital and/or Procedures unit. The primary patient population includes oncology patients, ranging from infants to young adults. Occasional flex to support BMT and/or Hematology services may be required. The APP will contribute to excellence in patient care, research, quality improvement, patient safety, and teaching.

Schedule:
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate clinical needs. Hours will be within the service’s typical hours of operation, ranging from 6am – 6pm, Monday-Friday. Weekend coverage will also be required.

Preferred Experience:
Previous APP pediatric oncology experience preferred.
Minimum Education:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Children’s and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin – the Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children’s Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. In 2021-2022, CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; and pulmonology. With over 70 specialties and 675 providers, CSG providers had 220,000 outpatient visits at 13 regional care sites, 67,000 emergency department/trauma center visits, and over 9,000 admissions.
