  • High School diploma or general equivalency required.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Must have prior sales phone experience with above average close rates.
  • Must be on time and dependable, committed and willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
  • Must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, self-motivated, a good listener, well organized and have the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Some travel to blood drives and fixed sites may be required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Schedule: 20 hrs. per week. Flexible schedule, Monday - Friday, days/eves, includes working 1 weekend day- Sat. or Sun.
  • The proposed rate of pay for this position is: 17.82/hr.
Responsibilities
  • Performs daily telephone recruitment of past and potential blood donors--is accountable for achieving individual, department and company blood collection goals through efficient donor scheduling.
  • Provides donor customer service—answers questions, comments and inquires maintaining excellent public relations through telephone, verbal and written communications.
  • Educates donors concerning donating and eligibility criteria.
  • Maintains accurate and updated donor data, ensures correct documentation, quality assurance, quality control, document accuracy and completeness, and follows procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Markets company-sponsored events to donors--giveaways, raffles, sponsor and community blood drives.
  • Participates in department incentive programs.
  • This position reports to the Telerecruitment Supervisor and Manager of Telerecruitment, and is ultimately responsible for securing appointments for the fixed sites.

Rhode Island Blood Center collects and supplies blood and related products to Rhode Island hospitals and New England clinics. It runs a main donor center in Providence with five additional donation sites across the state. It collects 250–280 units of blood daily to meet patient needs and supports blood drives with community partners. The center also registers donors with the National Marrow Donor Program and collects stem cells for bone marrow transplants, when matches are found. Its state-of-the-art lab performs DNA testing, HLA typing, and red cell typing, and it participates in local and national research programs to improve blood banking. Overall, the organization aims to provide a safe, ample, and affordable blood supply and to support related therapies for patients in its region.
