Requirements
  • Currently enrolled at a Canada-based university in a Bachelor's degree program majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge or experience with low-level BIOS, firmware, or system software development is desirable for alignment with the role.
  • Knowledge of low-level programming languages C and C++ and hardware architectures is desirable.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and embedded controller structures is desirable.
  • Knowledge of source control, debuggers, compilers, and system-wide debugging from software through firmware to hardware is desirable.
  • Knowledge of open-source concepts is desirable.
  • Knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, field-programmable gate arrays, and general hardware design concepts and processes is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Linux development environments is desirable.
  • Architectural understanding of or experience with graphics and compute pipelines is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Perforce, JIRA, Git, or similar tools is desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Support, design, develop, and deliver firmware for AMD discrete and embedded products.
  • Craft, implement, debug, and validate features on reference hardware and software, as well as pre-silicon emulation and simulation environments supporting AMD products.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
  • Build and complete clear documentation for all software produced.
  • Work on internal and external platforms.
  • Learn and apply Agile methodologies and standard processes for software engineering.
  • Engage in x86 firmware development using C.
  • Design, build, and implement embedded firmware, boot ROM, and hardware.
  • Debug issues at the boundary of firmware and hardware, including waveform-level analysis to determine root causes of firmware and hardware issues.

AMD crosses $1T market cap as AI chip demand drives 180% yearly surge
