Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Three to five years of related work experience are required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, and other web-based applications are required. The role may involve producing complex documents, performing analysis, and maintaining databases.
Responsibilities
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take accurate messages or direct calls appropriately, greet and direct patients, families, visitors, and staff, and provide timely and accurate information within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Type correspondence, forms, reports, manuscripts, and other materials that may require complex formatting; prepare stylized documents using desktop publishing or graphics software; and proofread and edit materials for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, maintain calendars for department chairs, managers, or directors, organize conference calls and meetings, reserve locations and equipment, prepare agendas and materials, and arrange travel as needed.
  • Organize and schedule conferences, seminars, and department-sponsored programs or events, coordinating locations, registration forms and fees, agendas, refreshments, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain departmental files, records, databases, and a reference library; enter source information into databases or spreadsheets; and compile, print, and distribute reports, mailing labels, and other information.
  • Communicate with vendors, staff, patients, visitors, and other customers; exchange information while maintaining confidentiality; and independently research and follow through on requests.
  • Perform routine maintenance and setup of office equipment, request repairs, maintain office supply inventory, order supplies, and reconcile supply orders and invoices while resolving delays, billing errors, or discrepancies.
  • Prepare, route, and track administrative forms and documents; route materials for authorization; monitor receipt by the final destination; and coordinate with hospital departments to resolve delays and errors.
  • Perform clerical duties including opening and sorting mail, photocopying, and sorting, collating, and distributing documents.
  • Facilitate problem solving, provide direction to others, and serve as a departmental resource for information and training.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
