Requirements
  • A Master's Degree or Professional Industrial Engineering Licensure
  • Industrial Engineers must have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or another Industrial Engineering discipline (e.g., biomedical or computer Industrial Engineering)
  • Lead in a maintenance organization within a Department of Energy facility
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the nuclear field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent
  • Education typically includes theoretical coursework, hands-on projects, and training with various computer programming programs, power systems, and technically oriented material subjects (hydraulics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics)
  • Hold a Professional Engineering (PE) Industrial Engineering license; to earn the PE licensure, candidates should have a bachelor's degree from ABET-accredited institution and experience working under supervision of a licensed Industrial Engineer
  • Experience with Department of Energy and National Certification System (NCS) experience and candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Quality (Q) clearance
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and other Industrial Engineering concepts
  • Excellent math skills, including advanced geometry, calculus, and physics
  • U.S. Citizenship required to satisfy security requirements
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, diagrams, procurement packages, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, or similar
  • Computer competency in Excel and MS Word
  • Experience with Design Change Control (change orders and Temporary Modifications)
  • Experience with Lock Out/Tag Out programs
  • One year of specialized experience reflecting ability to perform the work of an Industrial Engineer without more than normal supervision
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate current manufacturing practices and identify those needing improvement
  • Manage production schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity
  • Enforce quality control to reduce waste
  • Improve the efficiency of each production process
  • Evaluate employees' tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity
  • Analyze data to determine the root cause and develop a solution
  • Perform studies and data analysis
  • Use enterprise systems to generate reports
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested

  • An engineering license is required
  • Travel as needed to attend meetings/site visits
