Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in social work is required.
  • Must possess clinical licensure with the District of Columbia Department of Health as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
  • Must have 5–7 years of post-graduate experience providing mental health clinical case management or care management within complex systems.
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical skills and the ability to make sound analytical and diagnostic determinations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality work without close supervision.
  • Proven track record establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the university and with outside agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and staff all aspects of a higher education clinical case management system.
  • Work closely with staff clinicians, Student Outreach and Support staff members, and other staff and faculty to identify and assess higher-risk students.
  • Provide brief intervention and bridged clinical care as needed while securing appropriate referrals for students requiring a higher level of care.
  • Perform triage, clinical assessments, brief intervention or bridged care, referral services, and follow-up for students presenting with a wide range of mental health needs.
  • Offer crisis intervention and risk assessment for students presenting with risk to themselves or others.
  • Partner with university and local first responders to facilitate emergency mental health evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain a community resource database across university campus networks as a referral source for resources addressing student needs.
  • Establish and foster collaborative relationships with emergency departments, psychiatric inpatient units, and high-level-of-care step-down programs across the District of Columbia.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information according to ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Provide general consultation to faculty, staff, students, university offices, and family members concerned about a student’s well-being or mental health.
  • Participate in committees, advisory groups, mental health and wellness coalitions, Care Team meetings, and Threat Assessment meetings involving student concerns and university policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as required.

  • Experience working in a college or university environment.
  • Community-based psychiatric experience.
