Requirements
  • Grade 12 education.
  • A Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in community social services or health care.
  • Current Emergency First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certificates.
  • Previous behaviour management course or training.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with team members, professionals, families, and community members.
  • Non-verbal communication skills.
  • Unrestricted Class 5 driver's licence; a Class 4 licence is required when driving a commercial company vehicle.
  • Satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Criminal record clearance for children and vulnerable adults.
  • TB test.
  • Moderate computer literacy.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Respect and advocate for the rights and choices of the people supported.
  • Interact effectively with the people supported.
  • Empower the people supported to be full citizens of their community.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and documenting Personal Service Plans.
  • Foster positive relationships with the people supported's family members, professionals, co-workers, and community members.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and medication administration.
  • Apply behaviour management principles and strategies, including those addressing mental health needs.
  • Record daily activity and personal health information of the people supported in the case management database.
  • Work with the people supported to keep their home clean and well maintained, including daily food preparation and light housekeeping.
