  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid or mechanical system and component design or test or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, pressure vessels, flex elements and fittings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components.
  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices.
  • Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and quick thinking to keep the project moving forward.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain engineering integrity by configuration management of engineering data and production configuration through production and launch phases.
  • Maintain and upkeep of design data supporting production and launch readiness for each vehicle and ground system in production or operation.
  • Lead or support in-service issue root cause investigation and resolution implementation.
  • Capture and document lessons learned of product performance.
  • Apply sound engineering judgement and decision making in support of production and supply chain to achieve program production rate, including but not limited to production artifact review and approval, non-conformance disposition, production, and test support.
  • Develop and implement design improvements to increase production rate.
  • Drive design for manufacturability. Update assembly and test procedures for flight hardware identified through root cause analysis, manufacturing, testing, flight, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Partner with cross functional team (supply chain, production, manufacturing, launch operation, quality, project management) shepherding a given scope through production and launch.
  • Work with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred).
  • Deliver completed designs using best draft practicing per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards along with clear and well detailed analysis reports.
  • Evening and weekend production support may be necessary.
  • Travel as necessary to ensure effective and efficient work pace (up to 20% may be required).
  • Other duties as assigned.
