Edel integrates Alpaca's brokerage and equity-data infrastructure. Edel has added Alpaca Markets' brokerage and equity-data infrastructure as it develops products connecting traditional finance with onchain markets. CantonNews Editorial Team Edel has integrated Alpaca Markets' brokerage and equity-data infrastructure. The September 10 announcement adds brokerage technology and stock-market data to the Canton project's infrastructure. Alpaca provides brokerage technology that financial platforms can use to build services around investment accounts and trading. Its market-data services supply current and historical stock-market information, including prices and trading activity. The team is building private perpetual markets on Canton, where traders can take positions on asset prices using contracts without a fixed expiry. Its September 9 development update also confirmed the use of Chainlink price feeds for crypto and commodities. Edel's website lists Runway and its validator infrastructure as live on Canton. Edel Markets, its planned trading venue, remains listed as coming soon.
Kalshi partners with Alpaca to expand prediction markets globally. Cris Tolomia Kalshi is partnering with brokerage and financial infrastructure startup Alpaca to make its event contracts available to an international audience, the companies said Monday. Individuals and businesses that use Alpaca's brokerage infrastructure will be able to trade Kalshi's event contracts without leaving the platform, leveraging the same technology stack they already rely on for other assets. The company serves more than 300 financial institution partners and has a global footprint spanning 14 million brokerage accounts, according to CNBC. Kalshi vice president of business development Max Crowley said Alpaca's global reach made it an appealing partner. Having Alpaca's technology in place will allow brokerages in other countries to build on top of it, making it faster to get Kalshi's prediction markets live in new markets once local regulatory approval is in place. "They're a trusted brand, they're technology forward, their customers love working with them," Crowley told CNBC. "It's going to take us a lot of time to build the business globally, but this technical partnership enables that." Alpaca pursued the deal after seeing demand from its users for access to event contracts. Tony Lee, Alpaca's chief brokerage officer, said the company's goal is to make financial services accessible to as many people worldwide as possible. "Our mission is really to open up financial services to as many people around the world as possible, and you really have to go where the customer demand is," Lee said. Alpaca earlier this month completed its registration with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, qualifying it as a U.S.-licensed futures commission merchant - a designation for brokerages that handle orders on derivatives contracts. The company's application programming interface, which lets developers create their own trading software, draws 83,000 monthly users. Yoshi Yokokawa, co-founder and CEO of Alpaca, conceded that international growth will be a gradual process, while arguing that the untapped global audience of prospective traders could ultimately prove transformative for prediction markets as an asset class. The Alpaca deal is the latest in a string of expansion moves for Kalshi. In June, the company partnered with Canadian financial firm Wealthsimple to bring its markets to Canada. Kalshi has also been moving beyond prediction markets into traditional derivatives, filing with the CFTC to launch perpetual futures contracts tied to U.S. equity indexes and copper. In May, the company raised a $1 billion Series F round at a $22 billion valuation, with annualized trading volume climbing from $52 billion to $178 billion over the preceding six months. CNBC holds a minority stake in Kalshi and has a customer acquisition arrangement with the company.
Kalshi partners with brokerage Alpaca as it tries to build its international audience. Published Mon, Aug 31 20268:00 AM EDT Listen 2min Key Points * Kalshi is looking to expand its international business through a partnership with brokerage and financial infrastructure startup Alpaca. * Alpaca, which reaches more than 14 million brokerage accounts globally, will now feature Kalshi's event contracts in its financial infrastructure. * The move will allow brokerages in countries around the world who use Alpaca's technology to connect to Kalshi's event contracts, after necessary local approvals are received. A supporter checks the gambling site 'Kalshi" just before State Assembly member, Alex Bores (D-NY) gives a speech to supporters at his watch party at The Freehand Hotel after conceding the congressional race to Micah Lasher who will replace Rep Jerry Nadler (D-NY) in NY's 12th Congressional District on June 23, 2026 in New York City. Prediction market platform Kalshi is working with brokerage and financial infrastructure startup Alpaca to bring its event contracts to an international audience. Individuals and businesses who use Alpaca's brokerage infrastructure will now have access to Kalshi's event contracts using the same technology utilized on the former's platform to trade other assets. It comes after Alpaca registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to become a U.S.-licensed futures commission merchant, a brokerage that facilitates orders to buy or sell derivatives contracts, earlier this month. Alpaca moved forward with a move into prediction markets because it has seen demand from its users for access to event contracts, chief brokerage officer Tony Lee told CNBC in an interview. "Our mission is really to open up financial services to as many people around the world as possible, and you really have to go where the customer demand is," Lee said. That global potential is what made a partnership with Alpaca appealing to Kalshi, vice president of business development Max Crowley said. Alpaca has partnerships with more than 300 financial institutions and reaches 14 million brokerage accounts globally. As Kalshi seeks to go international, Crowley said having Alpaca's technology for brokerages in countries around the world to build on top of will make getting their prediction markets online in other markets happen faster, once local regulatory approval is received. "They're a trusted brand, they're technology forward, their customers love working with them," Crowley said. "It's going to take us a lot of time to build the business globally, but this technical partnership enables that." The partnership is Kalshi's latest move to go global. In June, it partnered with Canadian financial firm Wealthsimple to bring its markets north of the U.S. border. Alpaca also has 83,000 monthly users of its Application Programming Interface, which allows individual developers to build their own personal software for trading assets. CNBC has reported about the lengths individual prediction market traders go to gain an edge against other traders, many of whom have developed personalized automated software. Yoshi Yokokawa, co-founder and CEO of Alpaca, also acknowledged that it will take time for Kalshi's event contracts to scale internationally. But he said the potential crop of new traders that may come represents a major opportunity for prediction markets. "As that scales," Yokokawa said. "I think it should be pretty meaningful for event contracts as an asset class in general." Disclosure: CNBC and Kalshi have a commercial relationship that includes customer acquisition and a minority investment.
Alpaca launches Business Accounts for Broker partners. Alpaca is excited to announce that Business Accounts are now available for its broker partners through Alpaca's Broker API. Eligible partners can now onboard legal entities, including LLCs and S-Corps, and authorized signers through a structured, API-native workflow, designed to streamline onboarding and support business account trading. Why Alpaca is expanding Business Account support. Many broker-dealers are seeing increased demand for business account onboarding. However, onboarding business accounts has traditionally relied on manual document collection, fragmented compliance workflows, and support-intensive reviews that don't scale.[1] These operational challenges create friction for customers, increase costs for brokerages, and leave significant room for modern, automated onboarding solutions. Alpaca's Business Accounts streamlines the onboarding process through a fully structured, API-native workflow. Partners can now submit and manage multiple party types, including legal entities, and authorized signers, through the API, with KYB tied to the entity and KYC to each individual. The result is a single, automated workflow that supports programmatic onboarding of business accounts through a single workflow. The benefits of Broker API Business Accounts. Minimal integration. Its Business Account solution is built on the same Broker API infrastructure, so you can leverage the same integration, tech stack, and systems you already use and maintain. Automated onboarding and lifecycle management. Business onboarding is designed to support a streamlined workflow similar to individual account onboarding, with fewer manual document processes. Partners can submit required data through the API, submit verifications, and manage the full lifecycle from account opening through ongoing updates through a single integration. Business Account documentation and onboarding workflows will also be available through Alpaca's MCP Servers for Broker API, enabling engineering and operations teams to explore endpoints and test workflows without digging through documentation manually. Scalable by design. As partner volumes grow, Business Account workflows scale without requiring operations support for each account, meaning onboarding can be faster, continually updated, and managed programmatically at any volume. How Business Accounts work with Alpaca's Broker API. Alpaca uses a party-centric model, enabling entities to be submitted as a data object through the API with explicit fields for legal entity type, ownership percentages, UBO relationships, and authorized signer roles. The onboarding follows an API-first workflow: * Submit and update the legal entity and authorized signers as structured data * Post KYB for the legal entity and KYC for each individual through the API * Create the legal parties and then pass the legal entity party ID to the primary_account_holder_id, and per-account agreements with signer_party_id * Any changes to business and party records are managed through the same API, with key fields automatically triggering an account review flow Trade confirmations, monthly statements, and tax reporting forms are generated automatically in the legal entity's name, so partners do not need to build separate document handling workflows. For more information on its Business Trading Accounts, please read its Broker API Docs. What's next. Business Accounts are a critical step in Alpaca's product roadmap to support institutional trading. As Alpaca expand its support, Alpaca will continue to build out features and enhancements in collaboration with its partners. "The complexity of onboarding business accounts has been an ongoing barrier in the industry. Paperwork, compliance requirements, and manual systems created a real barrier between brokers and their users," said Hakan Bayraksan, Senior Director of Product at Alpaca. "We've engineered an API-first system that reflects how entities and compliance teams think about ownership and verification, so that our partners can expand their addressable market without rebuilding their stack. With this launch, we've removed a key structural barrier." Eligibility. Business Accounts are available to partners who have been approved for KYB and KYC reliance. Partners not yet approved will need to complete this approval process before enabling business account onboarding. Get started. Alpaca has partnered with cryptocurrency platform Gate to support its launch of US stocks and exchange-traded funds, initial public offering allocations and tokenized stocks. The trend is giving retail investors and traders on crypto platforms access to a wider range of traditional market products. Alpaca supports Gate's US stock launch. Gate is also developing AI tools for retail investors, professional traders and developers to analyse markets and manage assets. Coinbase, MEXC Expand Beyond Digital Assets The move is part of a shift among crypto exchanges towards offering traditional financial products. Earlier this year, Coinbase outlined plans for a multi-asset platform covering cryptocurrencies, equities, derivatives and prediction markets. It described the model as an "Everything Exchange" operating across several asset classes. MEXC also entered the US stock market with RealStocks, giving users access to US-listed shares and dividends through a licensed brokerage partner.
