Salomon sees North american growth as Arc'teryx partners with Dick's Sporting Goods.

Salomon sees North american growth as Arc'teryx partners with Dick's Sporting Goods. Amer Sports sees growth for Salomon in North America and an Arc'teryx partnership for a shop-in-shop in 15 Dick's House of Sports doors to start this fall. August 18, 2026, 3:39pm North America represents growth opportunities for Amer Sports' two key brands, Arc'teryx and Salomon footwear. Amer's chief financial officer Andrew Page told investors during a Tuesday conference call after posting second quarter results that second quarter store openings for Arc'teryx include Oak Ridge Park in Vancouver and Southdale in Minnesota, bringing the total store network to 75 locations across the continent. Page said there also could be 200 doors over time across North America. In the U.S., LUXUS Alternatives, Inc. is expanding into a "new partnership with Dick's Sporting Goods where we will be entering 15 hand-selected premium House of Sports locations for fall-winter 2026," Page said. The Arc'teryx brand will be showcased in experiential shop-in-shop formats, with a particular "emphasis on the core outerwear offerings and including footwear," the CFO noted, adding that the shops are in the test-and-learn stage and that there is "potential to expand further over time." In a telephone interview, Page said the Arc'teryx partnership builds on the existing relationship Amer has with Dick's in connection with its Ball and Racquet business through Wilson 360. Page also spoke about the positive feedback from consumers on Salomon's new gravel concept. The hybrid running shoe allows for an "easier transition when you go from gravel to pavement running," he said. And while Salomon's performance running platform continues to see fast growth, Page noted that Sportstyle - introduced a few years ago featuring the "same DNA and the technical performance ability as our trail running shoes" - has been the fastest growing franchise in its footwear business, although both are still smaller than Salomon's trail business. Jie Zheng, Amer's chief executive officer, told investors on the conference call that investments to grow Salomon brand awareness and the distribution footprint are paying off, "driving strong footwear momentum across regions, channels and for both Sportstyle and the Performance products. He said global Sportstyle momentum continues, which is helping the development of Salomon's positioning "as the modern outdoor sneaker brand. The XT6 and XT Whisper franchise are resonating with a younger and more diverse adults from technical sports in the mountains to culture and the communities in the cities." Zheng also said that South Korean global superstar singer and actress Jisoo will be Salomon's new global ambassador. The Amer CEO said that while the U.S. is the largest single sneaker market in the world, it remains a "small business for us," noting that there is strong demand for the Salomon brand but very limited distribution thus far for the brand. "Today, we are seeing a clear acceleration in North America as we leverage the rising brand awareness to expand distribution with both new and existing wholesale partners as well as our own stores and e-com," Zheng said. The brand during the quarter opened its first North America flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, and is expanding wholesale shelf space with existing wholesale partners Nordstrom and JD Sports, and more recently starting in July, Foot Locker. As for the epicenter strategy, cities such as Paris, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and New York are driving both strong sales momentum and rising brand awareness through relevant store locations or "handpicked elevated wholesale doors." The brand is also investing in event partnerships in its epicenter cities to build lasting connections with consumers. Zheng said Miami, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston in the U.S. are the new major cities that will be part of the epicenter strategy down the road. Overseas, the new major cities in the future include Berlin and Seoul. And for Arc'teryx, Zheng said the brand had another great quarter with its footwear business, including "strong double-digit growth across regions." Arc'teryx's Norvan LD 4 trail shoes continues to be "our biggest volume driver," Zheng said. Also continuing to do well are its Konseal trekking shoes. And he said that the launch of the brand's latest version of its technical trail racing shoe, the Sylan 2, in March continues to perform well. "Looking forward, we are confident that Arc'teryx has an exciting pipeline of shoe releases for the coming years," Zheng said, adding that the brand also saw momentum in its women's apparel category. He noted that the category is growing fast and the brand awareness is rising as the company improves fit, style and function for its women's offerings. For the second quarter ended June 30, net income skyrocketed to $107.2 million from $18.2 million in the same year-ago quarter, on a 32.1 percent gain in revenue to $1.63 billion from $1.24 billion. For the second quarter in a row, Amer raised guidance for the year ending Dec. 31, 2026. It now expects revenue to grow 24 percent, with diluted earnings per share forecasted at between $1.27 to $1.30. Daily Headlines

JCPenney to close at CoolSprings Galleria.

JCPenney to close at CoolSprings Galleria. Dick's House of Sport will open in space in early 2028 as concept's first in Tennessee. * William Williams * Aug 10, 2026 The CoolSprings Galleria JCPenney retail store will close by year's end after a 32-year run and be replaced with a Dick's House of Sport. With the ceasing of operations, Middle Tennessee will be home to only two JCPenney locations: one each in Mt. Juliet and Murfreesboro. Years ago, the Plano, Texas-based company operated multiple locations in Davidson County alone. Various online sources note JCPenney hit a peak number of stores in 1973, with 2,053 stores located in the United States. The company's website notes 641 stores currently in business. CoolSprings Galleria opened in 1991, with the JCPenney having begun operations in 1994, The Tennessean reported at the time. CBL Properties, which owns CoolSprings Galleria, said in a release that Dick's House of Sport is expected to open in early 2028. To operate from about 100,000 square feet, this will be the first Dick's House of Sport in the greater Nashville area. The Post was unable to determine if the Dick's Sporting Goods store (a sister business) located at 2000 Mallory Lane in Cool Springs will close once Dick's House of Sport opens. In addition to sporting goods, Dick's (stylized as "DICK'S") House of Sport offers wall climbing, golf bays with TrackMan simulators, and a HitTrax multi-sport cage that can be used for baseball, softball and soccer. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (the parent company of both Dick's House of Sport and Dick's Sporting Goods) operates approximately 35 Dick's House of Sport locations in the United States, with plans to expand the number to at least 75 by 2028. There are almost 890 Dick's Sporting Goods stores located in 47 states, including one at Nashville West. In Middle Tennessee, Dick's Sporting Goods also operates locations in the RiverGate Mall area, Mt. Juliet, Murfreesboro, Clarksville and, as noted, at Cool Springs. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. is a publicly traded company (NYSE: DKS) that reported an annual revenue of $17.22 billion for the most recently concluded fiscal year. Submit your news. Next-gen IKEA store coming to Greater Cleveland.

Next-gen IKEA store coming to Greater Cleveland. The former Dick's Sporting Goods at Crocker Park in Westlake will be remodeled as a small-format IKEA store - Greater Cleveland's first such location for the global retailer. This is an unofficial rendering of what the renovated store could look like (NEOtrans). CLICK IMAGES TO ENLARGE THEM. New format a global trend for household supplier. In 2018, IKEA walked away from Cleveland after the search for a buildable site fell through. Nearly a decade later, the Swedish home and furniture supplier will return with a brand-new concept for Northeast Ohio. Opening in Spring 2027, Clevelanders will no longer have to make the two hour journey to Columbus, Pittsburgh or Detroit for access to IKEA's inventory of thousands of household goods. Instead, a new generation of stores with a smaller footprint will make its debut at Crocker Park in suburban Westlake, said officials at the global retailer today. "Westlake represents an exciting opportunity to connect with more people in Northern Ohio and help them create homes that reflect their needs, style and budget," said Rob Olson, chief operating officer of IKEA U.S. in a written statement. The new IKEA will locate in a former, to-be-remodeled Dick's Sporting Goods store at 300 Crocker Park Blvd., said officials at Stark Enterprises, a real estate firm based in Downtown Cleveland and which owns Crocker Park. The former Dick's Sporting Goods at Crocker Park sat empty in April, awaiting a new use that will come with IKEA next year (Google). "We had a very short list of 'best-in-class' retailers we believed could truly transform this key anchor location, and IKEA was our number-one choice," said Lidia Saluan Richani, executive vice president of leasing for Stark Enterprises. "We are thrilled to welcome one of the world's most recognized home furnishing brands to Crocker Park," she continued. "This is about more than activating a premier retail space. It's about creating a destination that will attract visitors from across the region, enhance our retail mix, and reinforce Crocker Park's position as one of the nation's leading mixed-use lifestyle centers." The 80,000-square-foot store was vacated last year when Dick's Sporting Goods moved to a new location in Avon. IKEA will retrofit the entire building to meet the needs of their showroom footprint and warehouse-style selection. Renovation crews have already begun working on the store this week, removing the sporting medallions from the building's exterior, Stark's Vice President of Marketing Stacie Schmidt told NEOtrans this morning. That work was the first indication that something major was up. So were the teasing posts on social media in the past week by Ezra Stark, CEO of Stark Enterprises. Stark Enterprises has been teasing the big news at Crocker Park in recent days (Stark Enterprises). "Bringing IKEA to Crocker Park has been years in the making," Stark said. "This announcement reflects years of strategic planning, strong partnerships, and our commitment to continually elevating Crocker Park with brands people truly want to experience." "IKEA isn't simply another retailer - it's a destination that will draw visitors from across the Midwest, strengthen our regional economy, and further establish Crocker Park as one of the nation's premier mixed-use destinations," he added. The store will be IKEA's third location in Ohio, following stores in Greater Cincinnati and Greater Columbus. Customers will have access to more than 3,250 products and 250 furniture items in-store for immediate takeaway. Over 5,400 products can be purchased online and picked up at the store. Other features of IKEA Cleveland will include an As-Is section of discontinued and returned products on sale. A food court with a menu similar to traditional stores will serve a selection of IKEA favorites, including meatballs, plant balls, falafel balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, cinnamon buns and other snacks and meals available to enjoy on-site or take home. An example of an IKEA small-format store in a retail plaza located in the United Kingdom. IKEA plans to open 20 such stores in the USA and Europe in the next year (Ingka Group). And a section dedicated to working with planning specialists will afford customers a personalized experience to design spaces and order larger furniture not sold in-store. IKEA Family members can take advantage of the rewards program for discounts and special pricing on delivery. "As we continue growing our presence across the U.S., we're focused on meeting customers where they are and creating more convenient ways to shop with IKEA," Olson added. The typical IKEA store ranges in size from 200,000 to 500,000 square feet and is often located in a prominent location, sometimes visible from a major highway. It's one reason why the large Plain Dealer site on Tiedeman Road in Brooklyn was initially considered for a Cleveland-area store. It's also a key reason why Crocker Park was ultimately chosen - due to its proximity to Interstate 90. However, the need to construct a new building of that scale has become increasingly impractical in the age of online shopping and delivery. Next to the former Dick's Sporting Goods store at Crocker Park is this parking garage which allows large boxed purchases to be wheeled out to your car on the same floor level as the store's entrance or, at worse, via an elevator in the glassy structure in the foreground (Google). As a result, IKEA's new global strategy is to open stores roughly a quarter of the traditional size - around 50,000 to 100,000 square feet. And in expected IKEA fashion, they're doing so in an economical way. Take for example a recently-announced small format store in Buffalo, NY, a metropolitan area smaller than Greater Cleveland. Set to open in early 2027, that store will renovate roughly 65,000 square feet of space that was formerly a Sears department store at the Walden Galleria Mal. While Greater Cleveland's new store will be slightly larger than Buffalo's, both will feature the same programming as a typical IKEA store, just in a slightly condensed format. Greater Cleveland is currently the largest metropolitan area in the United States without an IKEA. Furniture and home goods retailer IKEA announced in March it will add 20 small-format stores at compact retail locations ranging in size from 35,000 to 75,000 square feet. They differ from the retailer's traditional, massive warehouses by bringing the brand closer to dense city and suburban centers.
