Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Possession of a Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license or eligibility with American Nurses Association certification, or a Connecticut Physician Assistant license or eligibility.
  • Prescriptive privileges in Connecticut, including a federal Drug Enforcement Administration license and Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection license for controlled substances.
  • Ability to conduct informed consent procedures, manage multidisciplinary clinical research projects, and participate in recruitment and assessment of study subjects.
  • Proficiency in clinical research methodology, including institutional review board requirements and trial protocols.
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, care management, and prescribing for patient care related to research activities.
  • Ability to maintain integrity when working with confidential information and make appropriate independent decisions.
  • Knowledge of health education theory and general clinical operations.
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program or graduation from a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties of the role, including occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds when transferring patients.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for cardiac electrophysiology patients in an ambulatory setting and support physicians as needed within the scope of state regulations.
  • Provide inpatient consultative services and perform electrical cardioversions and implantation of loop recorders with physician training and oversight.
  • Examine patients and collect information about their physical condition.
  • Obtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes, and physical examination results.
  • Conduct complete physical examinations; provide medical evaluation and treatment; develop treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
  • Coordinate patient care, including ordering appropriate diagnostic, laboratory, and radiographic tests, and advise patients on results.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, counselors, and other medical staff to provide patient care.
  • Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
  • Establish clinical diagnoses, formulate health care plans, and counsel patients on health practices.
  • Encourage compliance with treatment plans through education, assessment of patient understanding, and regular monitoring.
  • Provide preventive health practices to maintain and improve patient health and prevent illness.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
