About the job
- At least 5 years of professional Go development experience.
- Expert understanding of Go concurrency patterns, interfaces, and idiomatic Go.
- Deep knowledge of authorization models and systems, including role-based access control, attribute-based access control, relationship-based access control, and Zanzibar-style systems.
- Hands-on experience with policy engines such as Open Policy Agent/Rego and OpenFGA, or similar tools.
- Experience designing and operating sidecar-based authorization at scale.
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect flows, token exchange, and identity federation using Keycloak or a similar identity provider.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and data modeling for access control.
- Ability to design systems for high availability, low latency, and horizontal scalability.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
- Advanced Kubernetes experience, including operators, custom resource definitions, admission webhooks, and cluster-level troubleshooting.
- Experience designing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency with ArgoCD for GitOps-based continuous delivery.
- Experience authoring and managing Helm charts for complex deployments.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or Terragrunt, including module design and state management.
- Experience setting up observability for authorization services, including metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Ability to make and communicate architectural decisions, including architecture decision records and requests for comments.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams without formal authority.
- Experience mentoring engineers and transferring knowledge through workshops, documentation, or pairing.
- Ability to take problems independently from identification through resolution.
- Security-first thinking, including anticipating attack vectors and designing defensively.
- Ability to explain complex authorization concepts to non-specialist teams.
- Own the authorization platform architecture end-to-end, from design through production operations.
- Design and implement sidecar-based authorization mechanisms and policy enforcement engines.
- Define authorization models, including role-based access control, attribute-based access control, and relationship-based access control, and translate business requirements into enforceable policies.
- Make technical decisions about authorization infrastructure, including evaluating, selecting, and integrating tools such as OpenFGA, Open Policy Agent, and SpiceDB.
- Design token exchange and delegation flows, including OAuth 2.0 on-behalf-of and Keycloak token exchange, for multi-service authorization.
- Collaborate with platform, security, and product teams to define access control policies and architectural standards.
- Mentor and enable engineering teams on secure authorization patterns and integration best practices.
- Own continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and infrastructure as code for authorization services, ensuring reliability, observability, and fast delivery.
- Lead incident response for authorization-related issues, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and drive root-cause improvements.
- Contribute to technical strategy through architecture decision records, requests for comments, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Use AI tools and automation to accelerate development, reduce toil, and improve code quality.
- Experience with production Google Zanzibar-inspired systems such as OpenFGA, SpiceDB, or Authzed.
- Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Envoy and integrating authorization at the mesh layer.
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or agent-based architectures and their authorization challenges.
- Background in platform engineering or developer experience.
- Experience with security auditing, compliance standards, or regulated environments such as banking or fintech.
- Experience designing multi-tenant authorization with delegation patterns.
- Contributions to open-source authorization tooling.
- Experience automating workflows with AI-powered tools or building internal developer tooling.
