The David Zwirner Photography Department seeks a motivated and collaborative intern to work alongside the gallery’s imaging team. The internship provides post-production support to and learns from the teams that polish and distribute in-house photography. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn the facets of the roles and processes that contribute to creating imagery for the gallery’s website, archive, and sales materials.
Some knowledge of the Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop, is preferred, but this role will also benefit from direct training in Photoshop as well as each of the tasks listed below.
Day to day tasks will include:
- Imaging:
- Support on retouching imagery from our in-house photographers
- Support on client-friendly installation and frame renderings using Photoshop
- Support on preview and website image formatting by gathering, editing, and exporting files and PDF generation
- Website backend artwork record creation
- Photoshop automation and exports
- Photoshop color work
- Support on ensuring our color management remains intact throughout the process
- Archive:
- Support on file renaming and server organization
- Project management tools
Skills you may learn include:
- Photo:
- Cleaning and polishing photography (Photoshop)
- Creating and using Photoshop automation tools (Photoshop)
- Tools for color matching photography (Photoshop)
- Formatting photography for different end uses such as web and print (Photoshop)
- Epson inkjet printing
- Photo scanning
- Organization:
- File management best practices
- Project management using Asana and Notion
- Web:
- Website backend CMS work
- Printing high-quality Epson inkjet prints for clients and color-matching
Fall internship cycle runs from approximately Tuesday, September 3rd - Friday, December 13th. To ensure that our interns have a well-rounded and educational experience, we ask for a commitment of three months. Internship hours are Monday - Friday, 10AM - 6PM. Internship is paid at NYC minimum wage of $16/hour. Candidates must be residents of NY, NJ, or CT. No lodging or commuting expenses will be provided. Only qualified candidates will be contacted.
