About the job

Requirements
  • Ability to take a vague requirement, interrogate it, record the decision and its trade-offs, and define a test that would prove it wrong.

  • Commitment to an AI-first development workflow, or readiness to adopt one.
  • Experience with cloud deployment and Infrastructure-as-Code on a major cloud platform.
  • Ability to recognise when AI-generated output is wrong, including when it violates a security invariant or implements an incorrect port.
  • Ability to work effectively with unfamiliar technologies and deployment topologies and learn them quickly.
  • Experience in platform or software engineering in a commercial environment, including deployment and operational concerns.
  • Experience shipping software to structurally different deployment targets and understanding why they differ.

  • Build production-grade container images and the interfaces they expose to hosting platforms.
  • Own the deployment and upgrade story for stateful distributed components, including recovery paths from versions already shipped to customers.
  • Deliver releases to customers across diverse and restricted environments and support upgrade paths from deployed versions.
  • Develop internal platform capabilities that enable R&D teams to self-serve infrastructure and software.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tooling.
  • Instrument deployments and the delivery pipeline so decisions are made using data.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, validate that implementations match specifications, and own the quality of AI-generated output.
  • Own the testing strategy for deployments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Kubernetes experience.
  • AWS or Azure certification in one or more disciplines.
