Responsibilities
  • Verify specimen identification against physicians' orders, prepare specimens for testing, and handle all specimens safely and carefully.
  • Analyze test results and interpret abnormal or unusual results.
  • Research and prepare pertinent patient data and refer data and testing results to pathologists for evaluation and sign-out.
  • Calibrate equipment, order supplies, and maintain inventories of relevant forms and materials.
  • Recognize test inconsistencies and take appropriate corrective action while supporting laboratory coworkers in resolving similar problems.
  • Administer quality-control tests according to procedure and maintain appropriate data records.
  • Assume lead duties and act as a resource to staff.
  • Orient and train employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Process cellular therapy products intended for infusion to patients.
  • Transport cell therapy products between clinical sites and the Cellular Therapy Laboratory.
  • Receive cellular therapy products and document, process, or store them as required.
  • Perform audits and prepare quality and assessment reports for review by the Laboratory Director as needed.
  • Assist with compliance applications and inspection readiness as needed.
  • Participate with the Cellular Therapy Laboratory Director in developing procedures for clinical-trial participation.
  • Assist the Director with feasibility questionnaires and engage in site-initiation visits with sponsors.
  • Assist the Director with training Cellular Therapy Laboratory staff on clinical-trial protocols and prepare work instructions.
  • Read and understand trial manuals and ensure equipment and materials are in place for study subjects.
  • Ensure sponsors and monitors have required documents and assist the Director with monitor visits.
  • Assist the Director with study close-out activities.
