Requirements
- Four years of work experience in a licensed daycare center as a teacher.
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality.
- Exceptional patience and empathy.
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions and deadlines.
- PEDS First Aid certification.
- Heart Saver CPR certification.
- Sixty-six post-secondary semester or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including three units in an infant/toddler course and three units in administration.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the program's yearly budget by evaluating necessary staffing, supplies, and fundraising events to accommodate the hospital budget.
- Coordinate special events to meet National Association for the Education of Young Children standards and Handle With Care site needs, including back-to-school and parent events.
- Interface with other hospital departments and hospital personnel as necessary for the continuing operations of the program and hospital.
- Maintain current knowledge of Early Childhood Education and Supervision through lectures, classes, in-services, and literature in order to properly train staff and parents; 21 hours per year are required.
- Maintain the program enrollment process, including the application, acceptance, and orientation process for new students and parents.
- Maintain the waiting list and advise the Director monthly of the waiting list.
- Monitor staff and children's records related to licensing, hospital, and National Association for the Education of Young Children standards.
- Perform duties needed to effectively operate the program according to licensing, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and hospital requirements, including newsletters, memos, and parent workdays.
- Review program goals and oversee their implementation in an appropriate curriculum.
- Monitor and maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and stimulating environment according to Title 22 and National Association for the Education of Young Children standards.
- Supervise staff, participate in hiring, dismissal, or discipline of employees, and train and evaluate staff performance according to hospital, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Title 22 requirements.
- Monitor the health and welfare of the children.
- Design a developmental program to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of the children.
- Coordinate activities and supervise personnel in accomplishing the goals of the program.
- Assist in budgeting monies for the program.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- A Health/Safety Communicable Diseases class is a plus.
