Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Communications, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in youth development, community outreach, violence prevention, social services, or a related field is required.
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia communities, particularly targeted neighborhoods and service areas, is required.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the ability to build effective partnerships are required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms is required.
  • The ability to collect, analyze, and use program data for decision-making and reporting is required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills are required.
  • Creative program development and group facilitation experience, particularly in leadership, arts, and youth engagement initiatives, is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance, FBI Criminal Background Clearance, and National Sex Offender Registry Clearance is required.
  • The ability to obtain required health screenings and tuberculosis clearances every two years is required.
  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation, or the ability to obtain both, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based anti-violence and youth outreach programs that address community needs.
  • Design and facilitate workshops focused on conflict resolution, anger management, violence prevention, and nonviolent communication.
  • Create and lead programs that develop youth leadership, teamwork, decision-making, and goal-setting skills.
  • Use data and participant feedback to strengthen program effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Recruit, engage, and retain youth participants through effective outreach strategies.
  • Provide mentorship, advocacy, and emotional support to youth facing personal, academic, or social challenges.
  • Connect youth with educational, social, and community resources that support personal development and well-being.
  • Encourage youth participation in civic activities, including community organizing, volunteerism, and voter registration efforts.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools, community organizations, local law enforcement, and service providers.
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and activities that engage parents, guardians, and community members in youth programming.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, outreach events, and public forums.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support youth-focused art workshops, talent shows, community service projects, leadership activities, and violence prevention campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of participant engagement, program outcomes, referrals, incidents, and services provided.
  • Monitor and track program performance and participant progress.
  • Implement and enforce program safety protocols and respond appropriately to safety concerns or incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Youth Take Action Director.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with adolescents and young adults.
  • Knowledge of violence prevention, restorative practices, and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience working within violence prevention or community-based youth programs.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and restorative justice practices.
