About the company

ASML designs and manufactures photolithography systems for semiconductor manufacturing. Its main products are deep ultraviolet (DUV) and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines that print circuit patterns on silicon wafers, with EUV enabling smaller features. The company sells these systems to leading chipmakers and earns substantial revenue from installation, maintenance, and upgrades over the machines’ lifetimes. Its goal is to help continue scaling semiconductors by leading in high-end lithography and maintaining strong relationships with customers like TSMC, Samsung, and Intel.

What believers are saying

  • Q2 2026 sales hit €9.3 billion, and full-year guidance rose to €43-45 billion.
  • Management said 2028 EUV output could exceed 110 tools, unlocking AI wafer capacity.
  • India launched ASML operations with Tata Electronics support, opening a new customer frontier.

What critics are saying

  • Europe bought zero ASML lithography tools in 2026, exposing a dead domestic demand base.
  • Chinese DUV entrants in Shanghai threaten ASML's 29% 2025 China revenue by 2027.
  • ASML cut 1,700 jobs in 2026; continued restructuring signals execution strain and morale damage.

What makes ASML unique

  • ASML alone ships EUV systems; no advanced chip node exists without Veldhoven tools.
  • High-NA EUV expands into Nvidia-scale data-center chips, extending ASML's moat through 2033.
  • Installed Base Management generated €2.8 billion in Q2 2026, deepening recurring revenue.

ASML down 16.1% in a month: narrative sees $1,809 fair value, DCF says $1,011

ASML Holding's shares fell 6.6% in the last session and 16.1% over 30 days, though they are still up 34.6% this year. The stock closed at $1,565.90. Valuation views differ. The most followed investor narrative puts fair value at $1,809.43, which implies the stock is 13.5% undervalued. A Simply Wall St discounted cash flow model estimates $1,011.38, which suggests it is overvalued. Chief executive officer Christophe Fouquet has tied executive pay to a new Workplace Experience Index that tracks employee morale. The move follows a year of restructuring and planned cuts of about 1,700 management roles. Risks include tighter export controls on China and any pause in AI or memory capital spending.

ASML and TSMC: two AI growth stocks to buy with $1,000 and hold for a decade

ASML and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) offer a way to profit from artificial intelligence (AI) spending without picking a winning chip designer, according to a Motley Fool columnist who would split $1,000 between them for a decade. ASML is the world's only commercial supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography systems. It reported record third-quarter revenue of €11.7 billion and net income of €5 billion, and expects full-year revenue of €44 billion to €45 billion. TSMC, the largest dedicated chip foundry, posted third-quarter revenue of $46.72 billion, up 41.2% from a year earlier. It guided fourth-quarter revenue to $52.3 billion to $54.3 billion. Neither stock is guaranteed to beat the market, the author notes.

ASML's CEO ties his pay to employee satisfaction after engagement drops to 73.5%

ASML chief executive officer Christophe Fouquet will tie executive pay to employee satisfaction, according to a memo seen by Business Insider. The move follows a drop in the Dutch chip equipment maker's employee engagement index from 78% to 73.5%, as it reorganises. Fouquet called it a "disruptive and emotional year." The survey polled more than 38,000 of ASML's roughly 44,000 employees. A new Workplace Experience Index, built from six survey questions, will join the long-term incentive plan. "In the coming years, it will directly influence the remuneration of senior leaders, including the Board of Management," Fouquet wrote. ASML announced in January that it could cut 1,700 jobs to reduce management layers, though it later said it expected fewer cuts. Its shares are up 45% this year on AI-driven demand.
