Koalafi's enhanced app makes it easier for customers to manage their leases and shop with merchants in one place. September 9, 2026 Koalafi, a consumer finance company providing non-prime payment solutions, today announced enhancements to its mobile app that make it easier for customers to manage their payments and shop again with merchants in Koalafi's app marketplace. Facing affordability pressures, more consumers are turning to transparent, pay-over-time options, and merchants are looking for new ways to increase sales. Koalafi's enhanced mobile app responds to both groups' needs, giving customers more control over their payments and merchants valuable exposure to their existing and new Koalafi customers. For merchants, the app keeps their brand front and center for past customers and introduces them to new ones. When a customer opens the app, the merchants they've shopped with are just a tap away, fostering greater loyalty. Notably, over 70% of Koalafi customers who take out an additional lease do so with the same merchant[1]. "Repeat business is exactly what we want to help our merchants earn," said Charles Battle, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Koalafi. "We're creating more ways for merchants to stay connected with previous customers while putting their brand in front of new shoppers across our network. Each return visit to our app marketplace is a new opportunity for our merchants to grow." Koalafi customers can also browse and discover new merchants across categories, giving merchants another channel to reach high-intent shoppers. For customers, the enhanced app makes managing a lease easier from their phone, with a personalized, mobile-friendly experience to view agreement terms, track and manage payments, and review purchase options. Customers can also use their pre-approved leasing power to shop again and reach support whenever they have questions. This helps its customers stay on track and move towards ownership "More customers are looking for flexible, predictable ways to pay, and that support shouldn't end at checkout," said Battle. "We want every customer to feel in control of their payments and confident at every step. When customers succeed, that's a win for our merchants, too." These enhancements are part of Koalafi's ongoing investment in an experience that helps customers shop and manage payments with ease while creating more value for merchants. As of September 2026, the Koalafi app holds a 4.9-star rating on the Apple App Store and 4.8 stars on Google Play. Michigan secures settlement with car financing company over auto-repair agreements. May 20, 2026 Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has secured an agreement with West Creek Financial, Inc., a Virginia corporation doing business under the name Koalafi, to resolve allegations that the lease-to-own financing company violated the Michigan Consumer Protection Act and Rental-Purchase Agreement Act. Under the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance and Discontinuance, West Creek Financial will pay $3.25 million to the Department of Attorney General. The settlement will primarily be used to provide restitution to eligible Michigan consumers who entered into auto-repair lease-to-own agreements with the company. The Department began investigating West Creek Financial in 2024 following consumer complaints that lease-to-own agreements, traditionally meant for the lease and acquisition of goods, were being used for auto-repair transactions, including labor, parts, and fluids. As part of the agreement, West Creek Financial will pay $3.25 million for consumer restitution and administrative costs. The distribution of restitution payments will be handled through a settlement administrator. Consumers who are eligible for restitution will receive notice from the settlement administrator with information on how to submit a claim. Within 45 days, the company is also required to ensure that lease-to-own agreements are not used to pay for auto-repair-related parts and services. Consumers who previously entered into such agreements and have already paid at least 1.75 times the cash price will have their balances reduced to zero under the agreement and will be granted immediate ownership of purchased parts without further payment.
