About the job

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
  • A minimum of 12 to 16 years of experience in industrial maintenance for robotics and automation systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience defining or deploying maintenance strategies for robotic or automated equipment at scale; multi-site or central-function experience is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of industrial robotics systems, including collaborative robots, industrial arms, AGVs/AMRs, and automated cells, and their specific maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge of OT/IT integration principles as they apply to condition monitoring and asset health management.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical standards and training that sites can use.
  • Ability to drive adoption of standards without formal authority over site teams.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to Power Transmission manufacturing sites 20–30%.
Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain Power Transmission standard maintenance strategies for each robotics and automation technology family deployed across the network: collaborative robots, industrial arms, AMRs/AGVs, automated storage, and automated assembly cells.
  • Embed maintenance requirements into technical specifications for new automation projects from concept approval through FAT/SAT and ramp-up.
  • Coordinate with other GE Vernova businesses to identify and share best practices and, where relevant, align on common standards.
  • Support Power Transmission manufacturing sites in translating the central maintenance strategy into local implementation plans adapted to their automation footprint, team maturity, and operational context.
  • Act as a technical escalation resource for complex maintenance challenges across sites deploying new automation systems, with a focus on supporting automated assembly line ramp-up at the Charleroi site.
  • Conduct site readiness assessments for maintenance capability before new system deployments to ensure sites are equipped before go-live.
  • Capture and disseminate lessons learned from first-deployer sites across the broader Power Transmission network.
  • Define competency requirements for site-level maintenance roles associated with robotic and automated systems, and develop standardized job profiles and skills matrices.
  • Design initial qualification and ongoing upskilling training pathways linked to specific automation technologies, in partnership with HR, PT Academy, and external training providers.
  • Define the standard methodology for measuring operational performance of automated systems, including OEE, availability, MTBF, MTTR, and cycle time adherence.
  • Develop the framework for measuring and validating benefit changes between new automated systems and the manual operations they replace in productivity, quality, safety, and labor efficiency.
  • Establish the Power Transmission-level KPI dashboard for robotics and automation asset performance.
  • Ensure automation investment business cases include realistic Total Cost of Ownership modeling for maintenance costs, spare parts, training, and lifecycle replacement, and track post-deployment actuals against projections.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve maintenance strategies toward predictive and condition-based approaches as OT/IT connectivity matures across the network.
  • Contribute to developing the Skills & Ecosystem, particularly robotics maintenance training partnerships with universities and technical schools.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with structured reliability methodologies.

About the company

GE Vernova makes equipment and software that generate and manage electricity for utilities, power producers, and industrial customers. Its Power, Wind, and Electrification businesses span gas turbines, wind generation, and the systems that move electricity across grids. The company supplies generators, grid equipment, and controls, while its software coordinates network operations and integrates changing sources of power. Customers buy equipment and enter service agreements for maintenance, upgrades, and technical support over its operating life, alongside purchases of software and related services. GE Vernova became an independent company in 2024 after separating from GE and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

What critics are saying

  • Wind remains a drag: July 2026 results show GE Vernova lost $275 million in quarterly Wind segment EBITDA.
  • Project margins absorb overruns: GE Vernova locks prices before completion and discloses meaningful expenses from excess costs and penalties.
  • Field assignments demand long weeks: GE Vernova's listed transformer specialist works typical 12-hour site days, up to six weekly.

What makes GE Vernova unique

  • Its technology underpins global power: GE Vernova says customers generate approximately one-quarter of world electricity using its equipment.
  • Gas turbine scale anchors expertise: GE Vernova reports the largest installed fleet by generating capacity, across approximately 7,000 turbines.

GE Vernova buys Trench Group for $9B, doubles buyback to $20B as backlog hits $197B

GE Vernova agreed to buy Trench Group for $9 billion, the power equipment maker said on its third-quarter earnings call on October 28, 2026. The deal brings in-house the making of substation parts such as insulation bushings and coils for grid stability. Total order backlog grew to $197 billion. Gas power segment margins reached 21.4% of EBITDA, helped by the first 5 gigawatts of gas equipment shipments at higher prices. The company also doubled its share buyback programme from $10 billion to $20 billion. It holds $17 billion in cash and will fund the acquisition with a mix of debt and cash. Chief executive officer Scott Strazik said the company is "still in the early stages of this electricity investment super cycle.

GE Vernova to buy Trench Group from Triton Partners for $9B

GE Vernova will buy high-voltage grid equipment maker Trench Group from investment firm Triton Partners in a $9 billion deal, the power equipment maker said on Wednesday. It aims to expand its electrification business and tap surging investment in power grids. The acquisition will add manufacturing capacity and widen GE Vernova's reach across North America, Europe, and Asia. It also gives the company access to Trench's backlog and framework agreements worth about $5 billion. GE Vernova expects to pay half in cash and half in debt, and to close the deal in late 2027. Separately, it raised its full-year revenue forecast for a third consecutive time, to $46.5 billion to $47.5 billion from $45.5 billion to $46.5 billion.

Venture Global's 16 gas power units deal ties GE Vernova deeper into AI data centre power

Venture Global has signed multi-year frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes for up to 16 new gas-fired power island units, each rated at 720MW, plus grid equipment. The units will supply behind-the-meter power for its LNG facilities and potential AI data centres without drawing on public grids. The deal ties GE Vernova's gas turbines and grid hardware to privately controlled industrial networks rather than regulated utilities. It deepens the company's exposure to energy-hungry AI computing. GE Vernova expects 125GW under contract by 2026. Risks include weaker European demand, wind losses, tariffs, restructuring costs, and project delays. Analysts' bullish case sees 2029 revenue of $64.7 billion and earnings of $10.7 billion. A more cautious view puts them at $57.8 billion and $6.3 billion.

GE Vernova up 600% since spin-off, with a $176B backlog: is the dip a buying chance?

GE Vernova's shares have risen nearly 600% since the company was spun off from GE Aerospace in 2024, driven by demand for electricity from artificial intelligence data centres. The stock has been in a lull since April. In the second quarter, its power division's revenue grew 14% to $5.5 billion, while new orders rose 134% to $16.7 billion, mostly for natural gas turbines. Its electrification arm's revenue climbed 68% to $3.6 billion, with orders up 93% to more than $6.3 billion. Total backlog stands at $176 billion, more than three times next year's expected revenue of $53 billion. Manufacturing capacity is the main bottleneck. About 80% of customers are traditional, and 20% are data centres. Most analysts rate the stock a strong buy, with a consensus price target of $1,199.47.
