Requirements
  • At least 2 years of network administration experience.
  • Ability to assist in configuring and maintaining AWS Virtual Private Clouds, subnets, route tables, and security groups under senior engineer supervision.
  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot AWS network connectivity issues using CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, and other native tools.
  • Ability to aid in setting up site-to-site virtual private networks and Direct Connect links between on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud environments.
  • Ability to perform routine audits of network access control lists and security group rules for compliance with organizational policies.
  • Ability to collaborate with cloud engineers to support hybrid network architecture and consistent network performance across AWS and on-premises environments.
  • Ability to document AWS network configurations, changes, and topology diagrams for operational and compliance purposes.
  • Ability to assist in managing Elastic IP addresses, NAT gateways, and internet gateways for scalable AWS deployments.
  • Ability to participate in implementing AWS Transit Gateway configurations for inter-VPC connectivity.
  • Ability to provide Tier 1 support for cloud network incidents and escalate complex issues to senior network or cloud engineers.
  • Ability to support deployment and testing of network automation scripts using AWS Command Line Interface, CloudFormation, or Terraform under guidance.
  • Experience with enterprise-class Cisco routers and switches, including installation, configuration, hardware and software updates, patching, advanced troubleshooting, and packet-level analysis using Wireshark packet captures.
  • Experience with Cisco Prime network management tools.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as Riverbed, NetFlow, TAPs, and SPANs.
  • Experience with virtual private networks and other remote-access applications.
  • Experience configuring and installing wireless networks.
  • Knowledge of switches, routers, firewalls, local area networks, wide area networks, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, User Datagram Protocol, and quality of service.
  • Advanced understanding of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 virtual local area networks and routing protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, and Routing Information Protocol.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Availability for weekend and evening work when required.
  • Ability to document all implementations and projects in detail.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Create procedures, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems, and ensure requirements are met for new and existing systems supporting engineering and installation.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and managerial direction for the global network infrastructure of a large federal government agency.
  • Set up and maintain virtual private network tunnels, virtual local area network configurations, wireless network configurations, IPv6 and IPv4 networks including complex subnetting, and network security using Cisco ASA firewalls, access control lists, IPsec, and other encryption methodologies.
