Modernizing after ERP setbacks.

Modernizing after ERP setbacks. Carroll University implemented Ellucian Student powered by Colleague in six months to restore stability, automate processes, and improve student operations. After operating on a legacy system for three decades, Carroll faced six years of implementation frustration while attempting to transition to a competitor ERP that did not meet institutional needs. Limited integration capabilities, manual processes, and unmet functionality made it clear the university needed a solution aligned with how Carroll actually operates. Carroll selected Ellucian to deliver automation, out-of-the-box integrations with platforms such as Canvas, and built-in analytics through Ellucian Insights. With strong executive support and an approach based in true partnership, the university completed implementation in just six months - an accelerated timeline that restored momentum and confidence. * Completed ERP implementation in six months * Reduced manual validation and system workarounds * Improved financial aid and operational turnaround times * Expanded use of modules such as budgeting within Colleague * Restored institutional confidence in core systems There was a level of urgency from all sides. It was a true partnership - Ellucian was all in, and we were all in." Jill Schwarz, Director of Business Technology Solutions Building connected workflows for better reporting. Carroll University, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is the oldest higher education institution in the state, serving approximately 3,500 students. With strong liberal arts and health sciences programs, the university relies heavily on stable, integrated systems to support student and operational success. After operating a 30-year legacy ERP system, Carroll transitioned to a new platform that ultimately did not meet institutional needs. The implementation created significant strain, with limited integration capabilities and functionality gaps that required ongoing manual work. For six years, the university worked to stabilize the environment before recognizing the need for a different path forward. Carroll selected Ellucian Student powered by Colleague to deliver a more cohesive and automated solution. Built-in Canvas integration, improved analytics through Ellucian Insights, and expanded automation capabilities aligned more closely with how Carroll operates as a university. Implementation was completed in just six months - an accelerated timeline made possible by strong executive sponsorship and a true partnership approach. Both Carroll and Ellucian teams operated with urgency, transparency, and shared accountability. Since going live, staff have shifted focus from validating system data to refining processes and improving workflows. Financial aid processing and core business functions operate more smoothly, and the university has expanded functionality within modules such as budgeting inside Colleague. For Carroll, modernization was not only about replacing technology. It was about restoring confidence, reducing operational friction, and creating a platform that simply works - allowing teams to focus on serving students rather than managing system limitations.

Advancing Community College 3.0 through data-informed strategy.

Advancing Community College 3.0 through data-informed strategy. Muskegon Community College uses Ellucian Insights to align strategy, strengthen governance, and improve student success. As Muskegon Community College embraced its Community College 3.0 vision, it needed a way to keep strategic planning aligned across campus and maintain momentum across six cross-functional committees. MCC partnered with Ellucian Institutional Effectiveness Services and Ellucian Managed Services to operationalize its strategic plan using Ellucian Insights and establish trusted, data-informed decision-making. * Created a single source of truth for the strategic plan. * Embedded strategy into day-to-day decision-making. * Strengthened institutional data governance. * Increased alignment and transparency across campus. * Enabled evidence-based decisions that support student success. Cross-functional campus committees driving strategic planning. Our Community College 3.0 vision requires more than aspiration. It requires alignment, transparency, and shared accountability. Partnering with Ellucian has allowed us to embed our strategic plan directly into how we work. With Insights, our leaders and staff will be able to clearly see how their efforts connect to our institutional goals and use data in real time to guide decisions that support student success beyond completion." Dr. John Selmon, President Forging pathways for students. Muskegon Community College (MCC) is redefining what success means by becoming a Community College 3.0 institution. Rather than pushing students out the door with only a credential, the college is preparing them for successful transfer opportunities and entry into the workforce. To support this vision, MCC launched a strategic planning process involving six cross-functional campus committees. While engagement across campus was strong, maintaining alignment and ensuring continued focus on strategic priorities became essential as implementation moved forward. MCC partnered with Ellucian Institutional Effectiveness Services and Ellucian Managed Services to operationalize its strategic plan through Ellucian Insights. Ellucian Insights transforms institutional data into interactive dashboards, charts, and visual reports that make information easier to access, understand, and act upon. By providing visibility into strategic plan progress, organizational performance, and key trends, Insights helps employees understand where the institution is today, where it is headed, and how their work contributes to institutional success. Creating meaningful dashboards required more than visualization. Ellucian Institutional Effectiveness collaborated with Muskegon leadership to define aligned objectives, measurable outcomes, and leading indicators. Through campus data governance leadership, the partnership also established reliable data definitions that give the institution confidence in its reporting and decision-making. Today, Ellucian Insights serves as the college's single source of truth for tracking strategic plan progress. Combined with thoughtful data governance, the solution enables leaders and staff to make evidence-based decisions that strengthen accountability and help ensure students achieve meaningful outcomes beyond graduation. Insights has allowed us to move beyond static reporting to a more dynamic, inquiry-driven approach. I can explore the data myself, ask better questions, and quickly connect what I'm seeing to our strategic priorities. Just as importantly, it helps us keep students at the center by ensuring that our decisions are grounded in evidence and focused on improving their ability to persist, transfer, and succeed in the workforce." Dr. Tucker Brown, Provost
