Ladder Life is a digital-first life insurance provider that offers term life coverage. It lets customers apply online for up to $3 million without a medical exam; for higher amounts, a quick at-home health check may be required. Coverage lasts a fixed term of 10 to 30 years, after which it ends unless renewed. The company earns revenue from policy premiums. It also provides a coverage calculator, which commonly suggests coverage equal to about 10 times the user's salary to cover major expenses like a mortgage, debt, education, and emergencies. Ladder Life differentiates itself by a fully online, hassle-free application process that reduces costs, making term life insurance more affordable. Its goal is to make term life coverage accessible and straightforward for individuals seeking simple, affordable protection.

What believers are saying

  • Ladder’s July 2026 site reports $108 billion coverage provided, signaling sustained adoption.
  • MoneyGeek’s June 2026 review ranks Ladder among 2026’s cheapest online term options.
  • WEA’s June 2024 launch and Envestnet’s January 2024 integration expand advisor channels.

What critics are saying

  • Ladder sells only term insurance; no riders or permanent products limit lifetime customer value.
  • Ladder depends on Amica, Fidelity, Allianz, and S.USA for policy issuance.
  • If carriers exit in 2026-2027, Ladder loses its product overnight.

What makes Ladder unique

  • Ladder’s July 2026 site still offers instant term coverage, no exams up to $3 million.
  • Ladder uniquely lets policyholders lower coverage after issuance without new underwriting or fees.
  • Ladder’s 2024-2026 partnerships with Envestnet, AmeriSave, WEA, and SoFi broaden embedded distribution.
