Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Virginia or Maryland electrician license at the Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice level is required.
  • At least 3 years of field experience in low-voltage electrical work, security system installation, or integration is required.
  • Ability to work in classified or sensitive government facilities is required.
  • Ability to follow strict security protocols and procedures is required.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation of all electrical work performed is required.
  • Knowledge of commercial electrical standards and specifications is required.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and hand tools is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are required.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly is required.
  • Ability to work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts is required.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, and above-ceiling areas is required.
  • Manual dexterity for detailed wiring and component installation is required.
  • Visual acuity for reading technical drawings and identifying wire colors is required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods is required.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and safety gear as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, security, and control systems.
  • Install conduit, wiring, outlets, and electrical panels.
  • Test electrical systems using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and test electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions using visual inspections, testing devices, and computer software.
  • Reassemble and test equipment after repairs.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective wiring and relays in security and safety control systems using electrician's tools.
  • Locate, remove, install, and repair circuit defects such as blown fuses or circuit breakers.
  • Maintain equipment service records.
  • Refer to schematics and manufacturers' specifications to identify connections and locate problems.
  • Install security equipment, outlets, terminal boards, switches, and wall boxes using hand tools.
  • Install new fuses, electrical cables, and power sources as required.
  • Cut openings and drill holes for fixtures, outlet boxes, and fuse holders using electric drills and routers.
  • Communicate professionally with customers to determine the nature of malfunctions.
  • Estimate repair costs based on parts and labor requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and install frameworks and conduit to support and connect wiring, control panels, and junction boxes using hand tools.
  • Comply with insurance and safety requirements and standards.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment on job sites.
  • Participate in internal and onsite meetings to report progress and resolve issues.
  • Attend ongoing technical and safety training to stay current with industry best practices and technologies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety certification is preferred.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving is desirable.
