Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in computer vision or robotics perception, including systems that ran outside a laboratory.
  • Solid knowledge of multi-view geometry and the ability to reason about estimators and debug bundle adjustment convergence issues.
  • Hands-on experience with simultaneous localization and mapping, structure from motion, or visual-inertial odometry.
  • Strong PyTorch experience, including training and debugging models on field data that differs from benchmark data.
  • Experience working on a moving platform such as a drone, vehicle, or robot, where ground truth is expensive and failures occur on site.
  • Comfort working at the hardware boundary, including camera synchronization, calibration rigs, and reading flight logs.
  • Sufficient robotics knowledge to communicate with an autonomy team about planner inputs, latency, and failure modes.
  • Ability to write clear design documentation that other teams can act on.
Responsibilities
  • Own perception for a moving platform, including reconstruction, pose estimation, and simulated environments for training and evaluating flight behavior.
  • Build Gaussian-splatting and photogrammetric pipelines that produce metrically accurate, georeferenced scenes from drone imagery.
  • Develop pose and state estimation using bundle adjustment, RTK/GNSS and inertial measurement unit fusion, visual-inertial odometry, and multi-camera calibration.
  • Turn reconstructions into training and evaluation environments for flight policies and characterize simulation-to-reality divergence.
  • Perform change detection across reconstructions separated by weeks or months.
  • Define perception outputs for planning and determine system behavior when estimates degrade.
  • Develop detection and auto-labeling models that run on aircraft under real latency and power constraints.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D Gaussian Splatting or Neural Radiance Fields, especially for large outdoor scenes.
  • Experience with reconstruction-backed simulation for robot training.
  • Experience with sim-to-real transfer or learned dynamics.
  • Exposure to ROS or ROS2 and PX4 or ArduPilot.
  • Experience with C++ alongside Python.
  • Experience with thermal, depth, or lidar fusion.

BrightAI provides an AI and IoT platform, Stateful, that monitors critical infrastructure in real time and manages assets proactively. It collects data from sensors, drones, and robotics, and uses multimodal AI to detect issues, predict failures, and deliver actionable insights to field teams. The system can retrofit legacy infrastructure, enabling large service companies to modernize without replacing systems, with asset visibility, wearables, and autonomous inspections supported by edge computing. BrightAI targets utilities, water, HVAC, and manufacturing customers, aiming to shift infrastructure management from reactive to proactive and create high switching costs through an integrated hardware-software stack.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • BrightAI reported over 250,000 AI endpoints across 25,000-plus locations in November 2024.
  • Pelsis expanded BrightAI-powered pest products in February 2025 across food and pharma markets.
  • Series A capital funds a new San Francisco headquarters and 100-plus hires in 2025.

What critics are saying

  • Sales depend on giant contracts; one delayed utility rollout can stall revenue recognition.
  • Pelsis and Azuria partnerships concentrate execution risk in narrow verticals and long procurement cycles.
  • Palantir, Siemens, and Trimble can bundle adjacent tooling and compress BrightAI’s moat by 2027.

What makes BrightAI unique

  • Stateful OS fuses sensors, robotics, and multimodal AI into retrofit infrastructure control.
  • Azuria and Osmose deployments prove BrightAI sells into mission-critical, high-switching-cost workflows.
  • BrightAI’s 2025 Series A from Khosla and Inspired validates enterprise demand.
