Requirements
  • Must possess current Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for psychiatric or emotional disorders.
  • Support the hospital and program philosophy of care and ensure each patient's safety and well-being.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and adults during an assigned shift.
  • Guide non-professional personnel in observing individuals for changes in condition or behavior and reporting those changes to the charge nurse.
  • Provide prescribed medical treatment to individuals.
  • Apply treatment procedures and interventions used for acute psychosis and non-violent crisis intervention.
  • Apply knowledge of abnormal psychology and medical terminology in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric care.
  • Use knowledge of psychopharmacy and psychotropic medications with psychiatric patients.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by professional staff.

  • Prior psychiatric healthcare experience is helpful.
  • Skills in teaching or assisting with activities of daily living are helpful.
