Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of state-approved Nurse Aide 1 training is required.
No prior experience is required.
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider is required within 30 days of hire.
Current good standing with the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry is required.
Reliable transportation with adequate insurance is required.
A valid North Carolina driver's license and current automobile insurance are required.

Responsibilities

Observe and report changes in patient symptoms and behaviors to the Registered Nurse so necessary changes can be made to the care plan.
Respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from psychiatric patients empathetically to meet their needs.
Facilitate patient educational groups.
Provide patient care delegated by the Registered Nurse, including taking vital signs, performing capillary blood glucose testing and electrocardiograms, transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher without electrocardiogram monitoring, bathing, turning and repositioning patients, assisting with ambulation, and assisting with elimination needs.
Document patient care information accurately and maintain accurate documentation.
Process recommendations and handle patient care responsibilities.

The Nurse Aide Certified position coordinates with the analysis of patient care needs in order to provide appropriate and efficient care. Working under limited supervision for routine situations, this role actively documents patient care information, processes recommendations, handles patient care responsibilities, and maintains accurate documentation.

Essential Job Function:

Provides patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse as follows: vital signs, capillary blood glucose, EKG, transports patients via wheelchair/stretcher (without EKG monitoring), bathes, turns, and repositions patients, assists with ambulation of patients, assists with meeting elimination needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent Completion of a state approved Nurse Aide 1 training.

Experience:

Required: None.
Preferred: 1 year experience as a nursing assistant.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

Required: Successfully complete BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire date. Current good standing with the NC Nurse Aide Registry verified through DFS https://www.ncnar.org/verify_listings1.jsp. Must have reliable transportation with adequate insurance as determined by the organization. Valid NC Driver's License and current automobile insurance.
