About the job

Requirements
  • Proficiency in state of charge, state of health, state of power, and state of energy estimation algorithms; balancing strategies; thermal management control; and fault diagnosis logic.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink modeling, AUTOSAR architecture, code generation, and integration.
  • Familiarity with the ISO 26262 functional safety standard; review-process experience is preferred.
  • At least five years of work experience, preferably in battery management systems. Alternatively, experience with at least two of the following controller types: vehicle control units, motor controllers, and OCDC controllers.
  • At least three years of software development experience and experience in application software development. Basic software candidates must have relevant background, such as prior application software development involving interfaces that combine application and basic software components, where the basic software component was developed in-house rather than integrated from a vendor.
  • Experience managing projects; this need not be in a project manager role, and leading projects within a technical team is acceptable.
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a software project roadmap tailored to client requirements; plan development, testing, and architectural design; establish delivery milestones; and ensure timely completion, quality compliance, and cost control.
  • Lead battery management system requirement analysis, product definition, system software architecture design, detailed design, and software development.
  • Lead joint debugging of battery management system hardware and software, bench testing, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulation, and field integration testing; work with interaction protocols between the battery management system and vehicle control units, power conversion systems, energy management systems, and charging stations, including CAN, Modbus, and IEC 104.
  • Analyze software issues during mass production, manage over-the-air updates, provide on-site customer technical support, and resolve after-sales issues through to closure.
  • Establish software version, baseline, and change management processes to ensure traceability of mass-produced software.
  • Participate in hardware solution reviews, specify software interface requirements, and collaborate to resolve software-hardware compatibility issues.
  • Support functional safety, Automotive SPICE, and IATF 16949 system audits.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience reviewing processes for the ISO 26262 functional safety standard.
  • Battery management system experience is preferred; otherwise, experience with at least two of vehicle control unit, motor, or OCDC controllers is acceptable.

About the company

Bosch Home Comfort makes heating, cooling and hot-water equipment for homes, commercial buildings and industrial users. Its portfolio combines electric heat pumps with gas-fired boilers and hybrid systems, giving customers different ways to control building temperatures and supply hot water. The business sells equipment through its brands' sales networks, with products adapted to regional building needs and energy requirements. Its inverter-driven heat pumps adjust compressor output to match demand rather than running constantly at full power. The Bosch business unit was formed through the merger of Bosch and Buderus heating activities in 2004 and is headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany.

What believers are saying

  • Heat-pump researchers gain human-factors experience: Bosch's Wernau team tests how concealed fans change perceived noise.
  • Retrofits expand the addressable market: Bosch's IDS Ultra fits most existing air-to-air systems.
  • Investment funds technical work: February 2026 reporting puts Bosch Home Comfort's 2025 investment near €200 million.

What critics are saying

  • Demand remains cyclical: Bosch's February 2026 report says Germany's heating market shrank 14% in 2025.
  • Sales coordination stays fragmented: Bosch retains separate brand sales contacts and discount schemes.
  • Facilities work extends beyond normal shifts: Bosch's advertised Facility Engineer role requires responding to off-shift emergencies.

What makes Bosch Home Comfort unique

  • Regional identities stay distinct: Bosch retains Buderus and licenses the Hitachi and YORK names for its HVAC portfolio.
  • Acoustics gets specialized testing: Bosch's Wernau heat-pump laboratory measures noise with 19 microphones.
  • Cold-climate heating reaches below freezing: Bosch's IDS Ultra maintains full heating capacity at 5°F.
