  • Comfort working in HTML and CSS, including reading, writing, and debugging them independently.
  • Experience with DNS and domain configuration, including A records, CNAMEs, nameservers, and TTLs, and the ability to guide non-technical clients through registrar updates.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one website builder or content management system, such as Duda, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, or Framer.
  • Working understanding of SEO fundamentals, including page structure, metadata, schema, content hierarchy, and how search engines interpret a page.
  • Familiarity with local SEO and GEO concepts, including Google Business Profile, service-area targeting, NAP consistency, and location-specific content.
  • Design sense covering typography, spacing, hierarchy, color, and visual quality.
  • Ability to evaluate website copy for generic, off-brand, or low-trust writing and improve it.
  • Ability to own a launch checklist, meet deadlines, and manage work independently.
Responsibilities
  • Build and launch contractor websites on the RealWork template by configuring layouts, modules, and content for each new customer.
  • Review and edit generated page copy within the AI content pipeline so each site has a clear voice and point of view.
  • Perform light HTML and CSS customization within and occasionally outside the web builder to deliver polished, on-brand results.
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices, including page structure, metadata, schema, internal linking, service-area pages, and Google Business Profile alignment.
  • Make design decisions about typography, layout, imagery, and overall visual polish for each launched site.
  • Partner with Activation and Customer Success teams to turn onboarding interviews, brand assets, and job data into launched sites on schedule.
  • Quality-assure every site across desktop and mobile for performance, accessibility, broken links, and content accuracy.
  • Identify patterns, friction points, and opportunities to improve the template and accelerate future launches.
  • Build and refine master templates, including new page types, reusable modules, and design improvements.
  • Configure RealWork widget embeds for job stories, reviews, and photos within customer sites.
  • Audit live sites after launch and partner with Customer Success on iterative improvements based on performance data.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with home services, trades, or other local-service businesses.
  • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor in a daily workflow.
  • Experience shipping sites with structured data or schema markup and explaining its importance.
  • Basic JavaScript skills or experience with embeds, third-party scripts, and tracking pixels such as GA4, GTM, and conversion tracking.
  • Experience with copywriting, content editing, photography selection or curation, or brand work.
  • Comfort giving and receiving direct feedback on craft.

Real Work connects employers in the trades with skilled workers through a platform that streamlines hiring and helps workers find opportunities. Employers post openings and seek qualified trades professionals, while workers search for jobs that match their skills and experience. The platform supports credential management by letting workers track licenses and certifications, and it facilitates application and communication between employers and candidates. Unlike generic staffing sites, Real Work focuses specifically on the trades, aiming to ensure a good fit for both sides and to rebuild the workforce by attracting a new generation to vocational careers.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Real Work's 2026 site says it is building trade-school partnerships in Washington and Oregon.
  • Flower Press reported growing beta users in fire alarm and construction, plus large PNW employers.
  • PitchBook lists $2.5 million Seed funding in 2021, and 2023 crowdfunding showed $561,000.

What critics are saying

  • PitchBook shows only $2.5 million raised since 2021, leaving little room for product wars.
  • Indeed, LinkedIn, and local staffing firms already own trades candidate supply and employer demand.
  • If employer subscriptions stall, Real Work loses revenue and the startup dies before scale.

What makes RealWork unique

  • Real Work prioritizes skills, licenses, and certifications over resumes, per 2026 product pages.
  • Tracy Teutsch built it from construction operations experience, not generic HR software.
  • The platform serves both employers and workers, with license-expiry alerts and job matching.
