About the job
- Have prior experience within a similar luxury hotel or established restaurant environment.
- Be fluent in English.
- Read daily events to acknowledge VIP arrivals.
- Know all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods, and relay that information to guests politely and concisely when asked.
- Present children's menus when appropriate, and describe specials and alternative cuisine.
- Serve and clear food and beverage items unobtrusively and professionally.
- Use the point-of-sale system to ring up sales, print checks, close checks, and complete cash-out procedures.
- Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, china, glass, and silver.
- Ascertain guests’ satisfaction and handle any problems that arise, informing a manager of the problem and how it was resolved.
- Follow cash and credit card procedures according to the accounting department's guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly restaurant throughout service.
- Polish silver and refill salt, pepper, sugar, creamers, and other supplies.
- Ensure that the work station is stocked with appropriate condiments at all times.
- Report guest comments regarding food and beverage to a manager.
- Handle and maintain operating equipment conscientiously.
- Learn and adhere to safety, sanitation, and hygiene policies.
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all food and beverage services, outlets, and hotel services and features.
- Perform assigned opening and closing side duties and set all tables according to standards.
- Report deviations from set standards and procedures to a manager.
- Ensure that all service and storage areas are safe and clean.
- Help minimize waste, neglect, breakages, and mishandling of supplies and equipment.
- Carry out light cleaning and maintenance of the outlet.
- Assist other food and beverage outlets in their operations during peak hours when needed.
- Fluency in Arabic and French is preferred.
