Requirements
- Candidates should have completed a United States-approved residency in Anesthesiology or obtained equivalent training and certification.
- Candidates should have completed a Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship.
- Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology is required; equivalence to board certification may be determined case by case.
- Applicants should be comfortable performing a wide variety of pediatric anesthesia cases involving newborns, young children, adolescents, and adults.
- Applicants should be comfortable performing cases independently when required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and student registered nurse anesthetists.
- Participate in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees and participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
- Provide three to four beeper calls per month, with some calls potentially taken from home, as well as evening and weekend calls when needed.
- Adjust effort distribution based on department needs, candidate interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.
Desired Qualifications
- Research experience is highly desirable.
- Transplant experience is highly desired.
- Limited regional anesthesia skills and the ability to anesthetize older children are helpful.
