Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 3 years of electrician experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, drawings, and electrical code specifications is required.
  • Ability to work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering services is required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime when necessary, is required.
  • Ability to climb ladders is required.
  • Personal transportation is required because most work locations are not accessible by public transportation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications or licenses throughout the project or contract is required.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and maintain a clean driving record is required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with external customers and personnel at all company levels is required.
  • Ability to work in field conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces, and lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, industry standards, safety rules, and regulations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts.
  • Install, repair, and replace generators and industrial storage batteries.
  • Install electrical circuits, panels, conduit, protective devices, switches, and equipment in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and/or National Electrical Code.
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices.
  • Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Analyze electrical failures and replace components when production time is affected.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems, including power distribution equipment.
  • Correct connections and wiring on equipment controls when incorrect applications may create harmful or dangerous conditions.
  • Maintain maintenance records.
  • Perform basic and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Follow established attendance and work schedules, including designated shifts, night and weekend work, overtime, and work during inclement weather when required.
  • Travel to areas with varying field conditions when required.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial or motorized lifts, test equipment, and motor vehicles as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A journeyman's license is preferred.
