Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at a college or university, or pursuing a degree in a related field relevant to Civil Engineering.
  • Have 0–2 years of experience in Civil Site Engineering, including residential, commercial, industrial, or office site design and permitting experience.
  • Have a valid driver's license, valid personal insurance, and a personal vehicle to travel to various sites during the workday; mileage for company travel will be reimbursed.
  • Be able to maintain and operate a personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Be familiar with AutoCAD for assisting in the production of site plan drawings.
  • Have general knowledge of hydraulic and stormwater design programs.
  • Have design and drafting capabilities.
  • Have grading and drainage design skills.
  • Have general knowledge of mapping websites used for due diligence and site investigation.
  • Have general knowledge of hydrology software such as Hydraflow, HydroCAD, and PondPack; AutoCAD Civil 3D; hydraulic software such as Hydraflow, StormCAD, and Storm and Sanitary Analysis; HEC-RAS; and gravity-flow hydraulic analysis using Manning's Equation.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Have general knowledge of Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe for preparing design document markups.
  • Have written and oral communication skills.
  • Have independent and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Be able to work independently and with team members.
Responsibilities
  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for properties.
  • Prepare Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports that review ordinances, utility-service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare conceptual site plans.
  • Prepare preliminary grading plans and designs.
  • Design stormwater management and conveyance systems, utility systems, and soil erosion and sediment control plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, including drainage, sanitary sewer, and site investigation reports.
  • Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, attorneys, and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
