- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field such as Kinesiology or Gerontology is required, along with related experience providing recreation and leisure services in a healthcare setting, preferably with seniors.
- Provincial certification for safe food handling is required.
- Coordinate and schedule programs that provide meaningful activities addressing residents’ physical, psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Support resident documentation requirements, including resident assessment and reassessment, care planning, Minimum Data Set coding, and progress notes.
- Support resident and family councils.
- Maintain a calendar of recreational and social activities that support residents’ interests, needs, and cultural diversity.
- Coordinate and facilitate recreation programs, special events, outings, and entertainment.
- Coordinate the volunteer program, including student and co-op placements.
- Coordinate religious and spiritual program opportunities.
- Respond to resident or family member concerns, take appropriate action within decision-making authority, and escalate matters to the Administrator when necessary.
- A Certificate in Volunteer Management is preferred.
