Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Four years of upholstery experience including two years of aircraft upholstery experience, or six years of commercial upholstery experience, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and products and/or advanced carpet knowledge, including the ability to install custom carpets, is required.
  • Working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications and terminology is required.
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently is required.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation is required.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • The ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift is required.
Responsibilities
  • Work independently to design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim items in aircraft interiors.
  • Assist the Shop Lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance and direction to co-workers.
  • Mentor and train other Upholstery Technicians.
  • Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and various assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Interpret material specifications and design and engineering drawings to ensure finished products meet design and engineering requirements.
  • Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all styles of panels in aircraft interiors while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards and goals.
  • Use the Corridor material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
  • Use design drawings to cut and install advanced custom-design carpets with unique patterns.
  • Accept lead responsibilities when needed, oversee projects, and coordinate with the Lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
  • Conduct safety audits and assist team members in conducting safety audits.
  • Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated Job Safety Analyses.
  • Comply with and champion safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and ensure the protection of aircraft interiors.
  • Monitor lesser-skilled technicians' work to ensure assigned tasks meet required safety, quality, and productivity levels.
  • Work with the Lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that reduce material cost, cycle time, and labor hours using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
