Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in Employee Benefits sales, consulting, or brokerage, with 3+ years in a leadership or sales management role
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and closing complex, consultative sales
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits products, funding strategies, compliance regulations, and vendor landscape
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Deep network within the New England employer, consultant, or referral community
  • Willingness to travel across the region to support producers, prospects, and partners
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or industry designations (CEBS, RHU, etc.) a plus
  • L&H license required
  • Travel and overtime may be required to fulfill the requirements of this position
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy aligned with company goals and growth targets.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Producers and Business Development professionals to achieve and exceed sales goals.
  • Identify and prioritize target markets, prospecting strategies, and competitive positioning.
  • Monitor pipeline activity and sales performance metrics to drive accountability and optimize results.
  • Represent the firm in the marketplace by cultivating strong referral relationships with centers of influence (e.g., non-EB brokers, consultants, TPAs, carriers, CPAs, attorneys).
  • Train and develop top-performing Producers with a focus on retention and cultural fit.
  • Foster a high-performance, team-oriented culture grounded in integrity, client service, and accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales Director and Sales Operations Specialist to drive targeted sales-focused initiatives.
  • Maintain deep understanding of regional market trends, carrier landscape, and competitive forces.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and community forums throughout New England.
  • Partner with marketing and client service teams to deliver compelling presentations and proposals.
  • Partner with direct reports (e.g., Producers) to close new business opportunities.
  • Individually prospect and close key new business opportunities.

People moves: TDCI, Hilb announce new roles, new faces. March 3, 2026 The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance announced personnel changes at the department this week. Michael Barber, with 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, was named director of the Consumer Insurance Services section. Barber joined TDCI in 2018 as a consumer insurance investigator, then worked as consumer insurance services manager, the department said in a statement. In 2025, the consumer section handled more than 5,100 consumer complaints and returned some $15 million to policyholders. Also, Peter Roth joined the department as director of business process improvement. He will oversee ways to streamline processes, improve efficiency and increase productivity by working with Insurance Division staff and with industry stakeholders, the department said. He is a retired Green Beret with management experience who previously worked with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Hilb Group, a major insurance brokerage based in Virginia, named Rob Nesselt as its Southeast platform leader. Nesselt will oversee growth and business development in the region, Hilb said in a news release.
