Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, with the ability to become licensed in multiple states.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering associated with natural gas high-pressure transmission pipelines and associated measurement and regulation and compressor stations.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in brownfield or greenfield natural gas compressor station and measurement and regulation projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards associated with the design of oil and gas pipelines and facilities.
  • Subject-matter expertise in 49 CFR Part 192.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience preparing project execution plans, design basis memoranda, technical reports, and engineering specifications.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed to support engineering activities and project execution.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through execution and closeout.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for mechanical systems associated with natural gas pipelines, compressor stations, and measurement and regulation facilities.
  • Develop engineering design specifications, calculations, and drawings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers, fostering continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigation measures associated with decommissioning activities.
  • Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party contractors to address technical inquiries, resolve engineering issues, and facilitate project approvals.
  • Work with civil, structural, and instrumentation and electrical disciplines, and direct drafting and engineering efforts to develop process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, site plans, and piping drawings for construction drawing sets.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and hazard and operability and hazard identification sessions to ensure communication and coordination among project teams.
  • Monitor project progress and performance metrics, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, ensuring engineering activities comply with company policies and procedures.
