About the job

Requirements
  • Use working Python, be comfortable with Linux services, logs, and networking, and be able to build application user interfaces.
  • Have strength in at least one of web (React/TypeScript), desktop (Electron), or mobile (React Native), and be willing to become productive across all three and debug any of them.
  • Use AI tools and agents effectively in daily work.
  • Write clear English for remote, asynchronous work.
  • Be located in Metro Manila and able to travel to capture locations regularly.
  • Follow data through multi-stage pipelines, form hypotheses, write tests, and use evidence to debug problems.
  • Communicate technical issues and next steps clearly to site operators and contributors, write step-by-step guides for non-technical users, and document investigations for operations staff and engineers across time zones.
  • Work self-directed, including being the only engineer on site with support from a remote team.
  • Treat data integrity seriously, preventing lost or double-counted recordings.
Responsibilities
  • Build and improve desktop and mobile app features for offloading cards, uploading footage, and showing upload status to site staff and contributors.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards and reports for hours, progress, upload accounting, and status, ensuring figures are trustworthy and interface text accurately explains system behavior.
  • Write software across the Electron desktop app, React Native phone app, React/TypeScript web dashboards, and Python services and tooling, using AI agents to develop diagnostics, tests, and features.
  • Respond first to support-channel reports of upload, app, or device problems; explain issues plainly, unblock users, and follow through to resolution.
  • Trace footage stuck between capture cards and the cloud across devices, cards, apps, networks, and cloud services; safely restore uploads while preventing data loss or double-counting.
  • Turn recurring support questions into self-service screens, clearer error messages, AI-powered diagnostics, and reusable guides.
  • Use tests to investigate camera and battery problems, inspect devices, replace parts such as cameras and buttons, and help distribute beta hardware to operators and report issues.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience shipping Electron or React Native apps to real users.
  • Experience in a support-adjacent engineering role such as field engineering, solutions engineering, or IT for operations teams.
  • Hardware tinkering experience with Raspberry Pi or other single-board computers, cameras, device disassembly, or 3D printing jigs and mounts.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage, upload pipelines, SQL/Postgres, or fleet and IoT management.
