Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or one year of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, rotate normally, stand, and walk during an 8–12 hour shift.
  • The employee must be able to use and care for equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
  • The employee must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • The employee must be able to organize and prioritize work.
  • The employee must be able to work around biohazards and infectious diseases and with hands in water.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic nursing skills under the direction and supervision of the practice physician or registered nursing staff.
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtain initial information and vital signs, and prepare patients for physician visits.
  • Prepare exam rooms by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring supplies are available.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and establish referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain quality-control testing logs as required.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
  • Perform office administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, depositing cash, and other closing duties.
  • Travel between facilities when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of healthcare education coursework.
  • One year of healthcare experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
