Requirements

Must have the appropriate education level required by state licensure.
Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state or states of practice.
May be required to have a valid driver's license, when applicable.
Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
Must have Basic Life Support certification for health care providers, or obtain it within the first 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and deliver physical therapy programs to help clients, patients, and residents recover and improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and prevent deformities.
Conduct examinations, evaluations, and interventions for clients, patients, and residents affected by injury or disease.
Use tools and techniques to administer physical therapy interventions while following safeguards.
Document client, patient, and resident information for evaluation; establish therapeutic plans and modify them when necessary.
Educate clients, patients, residents, and their family members about treatment plans, schedules, and home exercises.
Apply appropriate age-related treatments and evaluations to meet the needs of clients, patients, and residents.
Incorporate current research into daily treatment.
Treat individuals of varying ages with different diagnoses and disorders, as needed.
Document care in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet regulatory requirements.
Provide treatment at the level associated with the specialty offered to clients, patients, and residents.
Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines of the professional organization.
Accept variable work schedules and assignments.
Participate in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health.
Interact with providers, case managers, third-party payers, public organizations, companies, and contractual partners.
May supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client, patient, and resident care, treatment, or other services.
Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise as determined by department leadership.
Perform other related duties as requested by the manager.
Depending on facility needs and assigned locations, focus on clients receiving interventions in post-acute, long-term care, or home health care environments.

Summary

Job Description

Utilizes tools and techniques to administer physical therapy interventions following safeguards. Knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related treatments and evaluations relating to the needs of clients/patients/residents. Demonstrate and incorporate knowledge of current research into daily treatment of clients/patients/residents. May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders. Will demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates level of treatment associated with their specialty provided to their clients/patients/residents. Follows and adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organization. Exhibits flexibility with acceptance of variable work schedules/assignments. Participates in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. Will be interacting with individuals outside of the department including but not limited to: providers, case managers, third party payers, public organizations, companies/contractual partners, etc. May be asked to supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services. Will be expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by manager. Based on facility needs and assigned locations, may focus on those receiving intervention in the post-acute, long term care and home health care environments.

Qualifications

Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.

Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as a Physical Therapist. When applicable, may require valid driver's license. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
