Requirements
  • A master's degree in social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred, along with a current Washington State affiliated mental health or associate clinical license such as LMHCA, LSWAIC, or LMFTA.
  • At least one year of post-graduate experience providing short-term mental health services to youth and families from diverse cultural and social backgrounds is required.
  • Registration as a counselor in Washington is required.
  • Training and experience in individual, family, and group treatment modalities are required.
  • The candidate must be able to meet clients at home and in the community, provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance coverage, or travel to areas without public transportation.
  • The candidate must maintain a flexible schedule and work evenings and weekends.
  • The role requires authorized-driver eligibility, including being at least 21 years old, having held a driver's license for at least three years, passing a drug screen, and meeting the organization's driving-record standards.
  • The candidate must complete required training, adhere to abuse-prevention policies and appropriate boundaries, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated-reporting requirements.
  • Employment is contingent on a background check.
Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate, short-term acute crisis-intervention services to families in King County to prevent out-of-home care and psychiatric hospitalization for children and youth.
  • Provide services in homes, schools, and other community locations.
  • Provide short-term individual and family stabilization services and resource linkage, including risk assessments, safety planning, parenting-skills training, behavior management, de-escalation training, and brief counseling.
  • Develop action plans addressing priority needs and make treatment recommendations sensitive to each family's cultural, social, and mental-health needs.
  • Help families advocate with systems, access community resources, identify and use natural supports, and apply effective problem-solving techniques.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations is preferred.
  • The ability to speak a language in addition to English may be helpful.
