Bilingual Litigation Paralegal - Personal Injury
About the job
- A high school diploma, associate's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent is required.
- Two to five years of experience in personal injury, premises liability, first-party, medical malpractice, or another injury-related practice area is required.
- Experience using a case management system such as Litify, Needles, SmartAdvocate, or Filevine is required.
- The ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, work in a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with minimal supervision is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are required.
- Manage cases from prelitigation through litigation.
- Open and close case files, including medical records, police reports, and insurance verifications.
- Prepare for depositions, mediations, and trials, and assist with drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and complaints.
- Coordinate and summarize depositions.
- Communicate with clients, other law offices, insurance adjusters, and medical offices.
- Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses.
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Manage calendaring for the attorney and clients.
- Draft and serve summonses.
- Conduct legal research as needed.
- Prepare the disbursement of settlement funds.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance.
- Maintain case notes and updates in the case management system.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, verbally and in writing, is strongly preferred.
