Requirements
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized college or university.
At least eight years of full-time paid professional experience in civil design on commercial or public agency projects.
Experience using AutoCAD for design.
Proficiency in office computer software, including Word, Excel, and Adobe.
A valid California Professional Engineer license in Civil Engineering issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Proof of residency in Southern California.

Responsibilities
Assist in defining and reviewing Project Requirement Document scopes of work and schedules, including interim housing requirements.
Perform highly complex civil engineering work related to planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements; provide technical direction to District personnel, commissioned architects, and consulting engineers; and certify civil engineering design plans.
Apply civil engineering principles, practices, processes, and procedures to planning, design, and construction projects, including project scope development, budget preparation, design review, and technical coordination.
Provide technical direction regarding District policies, standards, and design guidelines for site development, including grading, paving, fencing, parking layouts, streets, storm drainage, sewer systems, and other site improvements.
Provide technical direction to Civil Engineering Unit personnel in preparing and reviewing project scope documents, topographic surveys, design drawings, specifications, and related technical documents.
Obtain and manage contracts and task orders for civil engineering, land surveying, and related professional services.
Review civil engineering plans, specifications, and related documents for conformance with District policies, standards, design guidelines, applicable codes, and project requirements; identify conflicts and direct or recommend revisions.
Develop, update, and maintain civil engineering standards, guidelines, and specifications to support compliance with building codes, safety requirements, and industry practices.
Direct and review site development studies determining the feasibility and estimated cost of site grading, street improvements, utility improvements, and other civil engineering requirements for property acquisition and development.
Provide technical advice and resolve civil engineering issues during construction; advise contractors, architects, engineers, construction inspectors, and project personnel regarding civil engineering requirements and field conditions.
Provide professional certification of civil engineering designs and documents for assigned District and commissioned projects as authorized by applicable licensing requirements.
Coordinate with the City of Los Angeles and civil engineering consultants to obtain review and approval of drawings and permits for off-site improvements adjacent to District school sites, including B-Permit and A-Permit work; coordinate permit closeout activities.
Assist the Real Estate Department with civil engineering matters related to property transactions, including legal descriptions, easements, parcel maps, and street vacation closures.

10. Minimum Requirements Required Education: 10.1 Graduation from a recognized college and university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Required Experience: 10.2 Minimum eight (8) years’ full-time paid professional experience in civil design on commercial or public agency projects, preferably in educational facilities 10.3 Experience in AutoCAD software design 10.4 Proficiency in office computer software (Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
Required Certificate/License: 10.3 A valid license as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
