Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • FNP or PA-C certification.
  • Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant medical license.
  • DEA and CSR licenses.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications.
  • At least 2 years of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner in a hospital Emergency Department managing adult and pediatric patients at ESI levels 2, 3, 4, and 5.
  • Experience performing closed reduction and splinting of fractures; repairing simple lacerations; removing sutures; performing nail trephination; managing bite wounds; performing incision and drainage of uncomplicated superficial abscesses; assessing and treating first-degree and wound burns; removing foreign bodies from the nose and ear, including impacted cerumen; removing superficial corneal, conjunctival, and subcutaneous foreign bodies; performing nasal packing and cauterization; and administering local and digital anesthesia.
  • Ability to interact effectively with adult and pediatric patients and with clinical, nursing, and physician staff.
  • Ability to attend to patient flow, multitask, handle interruptions, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English.
  • Ability to operate clinical equipment effectively.
  • Proficiency in technology usage.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat mostly ESI Level 2 and 3 patients in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Emergency Department under the supervision of an attending emergency physician.
  • Utilize therapeutic means, laboratory data, and radiographic studies.
  • Provide direct patient care to the surrounding communities in a well-established community hospital.
  • Work cross-functionally with specialty consultants as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital-based Emergency Department.
  • Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Experience utilizing a voice dictation system.
