Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working in an automotive dealership.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
- Knowledge of all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance is required.
- Knowledge of automobiles is required.
- Effective analytical and communication skills are required.
- Good reading, computer, and mathematics skills are required.
- Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications is required.
- Ability to obtain and keep manufacturer certifications up to date is required.
- Ability to perform multi-point inspections 100% of the time is required.
- Ability to work some scheduled Saturdays is required.
- Applicants must pass pre-employment testing, including a background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and test vehicles to keep equipment available for use.
- Complete preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation, wheel balancing, and filter replacement.
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by investigating operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical malfunctions, and replacing parts and components.
- Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Control costs by using warranty coverage and evaluating service and parts options.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Complete related maintenance and organization tasks as needed.
